Re: Tracing Leaks

Looks like it is coming from the windows. make sure the track/u channel is clean and not full of dirt. Could also be coming around the frame Agreed. Making sure tracks are clean eliminates any kind of 'overflow' issues. Also check / redo caulking around the window frame. Do it all around... water c...

Re: Trim Tabs Trojan

Many F32s had trim tabs installed as a factory option. OEM equipment was Insta-Trim http://insta-trim.com/ but I think Bennett may be on more boats https://bennetttrimtabs.com/ . My F32 has the Insta-Trim, and on my father's old 1969 28' Sea Skiff we installed a Bennett system. If you plan to run on...

Re: Chrysler 360 impeller replacement

Due to do mine again soon. I have never fully removed the pumps (Sherwood in my case, depends on vintage of the boat), but am (or at least was last time I did it) still flexible enough to crawl in beside the engines. Stbd is no big deal as long as you don't mind sitting on your batteries, port is a ...

Re: Cabin top leak

Just for fun... have you looked at caulking / sealing around helm forward windows / where sash under them meets the cabin top?

Re: Cabin top leak

Ahhhh the fun of tracking water leaks! Don't know how much of this will apply to your vintage, but from experience with a '69 28' Sea Skiff if you have hand rails on he cabin top, look at rebedding the screws/bolts that hold them on if you have vinyl over wood for that cabin top, vinyl may have beco...

Re: Estimated Speed

A bit different boat, but years ago my father had a 28' 1969 Sea Skiff. A bit shorter than yours, but only had a single Chrysler 360 / 260hp I think engine. I believe the bottoms of Sea Breeze and Sea Skiff were pretty much the same, so would likely perform similarly. Putting around at 8 knots (disp...

Re: F32 V berth storage

On my '79 like Away's I have a pair of drawers on each side of the aft portion of the v-berth. There is some room below them lower drawers and bit behind them but not very usable. And the plywood panels above them are screwed down. In mine the plywood panels in the forward half of the v-berth are ju...

Re: 1980 Trojan f32

Noise levels are not that bad, but as prowlersfish has said, could depend on any mods a prior owner has made. Loose equipment or other stuff vibrating or banging around could be more annoying than engine noise. I typically operate from the flybridge for enhanced visibility, fresh air, and wind in yo...

Re: Engine warning alarm

You mention oil pressure at 2-3 pounds shuts alarm off... I don't have the specs in front of me but I believe you should typically have 40-60 PSI during normal operation. Can't recall if the oil pressure gauges / senders are based on a voltage or impedance system (thinking the latter), so if pressur...

Re: Bottom Paint

Yes. You want to use a product that is going to repel the type of fouling you can expect where you are using the boat. Environmental regulations may also limit what you can use (bottom paints used to leach a lot of copper to do the job and eventually got outlawed).

Re: running a twin engine slower...

Would start by double checking what your idle speed is and can it be reduced a bit. I have been able to get my 360s to idle around 650rpm in the past and get the speed down around 3, but then you are much more affected by any winds or currents. You could also try dropping your trim tabs and see if t...

Re: 75 F32 Ignition Switches

From what I understand, because I last started and stopped the engines from the lower helm. I need the switches there to be on in order to start from the upper helm. What I was trying to say is if you start them from the lower station and the engine quits while you are running, it has to be restart...

Re: 75 F32 Ignition Switches

The other thing is - on the bridge do you have the right switches? Should be three position 'off-on-momentary/start'. As long as you have the three position switch it should work fine. If not, perhaps a previous owner replaced the switches with the wrong type. And to echo what prowlersfish said, you...

Re: Trojan 255 Information

Looks to me like Trojan hull but custom superstructure. Helm, cabin door, superstructure shape definitely not typical of Trojan construction. Seeing interior would help confirm if there are any Trojan elements in it. Also first picture that shows a bit of side deck shows wood (looks rotted too?). If...

Re: Monomatic toilet

Like Prowlersfish said, this is a recirculating system. You will have an incoming water feed to the head that goes to the right hand side (looking at it from the front). Just to its left will be a vent fitting that goes out through a through-hull. You may (should) have a shutoff valve for the water ...
