Re: New Props for 1977 F30 Express

Some interesting info on Props from my research over many many sites... PROPS!! I would say it is very possible to increase mileage at displacements speeds by adjusting the prop pitch away from one chosen for maximum planing speed. However I think your example may not be accounting for rpm change wi...

New Props for 1977 F30 Express

New Props for 1977 F30 Express... I am curious if I can get better fuel usage (lower) by changing props. My main speed when out boating is 5-10 mph. I hardly am wot or going fast. I think my boat has the original props for my two 318's Any ideas suggestions for a prop size, number of blades, etc for...

Re: Newbie question on draft

Do you have a good depth gauge device? I use mine all the time and consider it essential gear, especially on my lake. I have the sensor at the bottom of my hull, and my props stick down 1 foot. So if the depth says 3 feet, I know I have 2 feet to the props. (there is probably a way to create an offs...

murky, dirt filled water

As the season on my lake comes to a close and water levels are super low, i noticed when i went out the other day, the water behind me was all murky brown and looked like it was a mixture of water and fine silt/mud... what effect does this have on engine cooling? is there a filter for water coming i...

Re: Chrysler 318 Manifold temperatures

great feedback!! thanks

I guess it is safe to say if the manifold temperature reaches the block temp, things are not good.
can they be cleaned out, descaled inside or better just to buy new ones...

thanks... this forum is the best!

Chrysler 318 Manifold temperatures I was talking to guy last night that has been around boats all his life and he said a good thing to keep track of is manifold temperature vs the black temperature using one of those laser temperature devices... Re: Engine Winterization

Thanks for the great ideas!

I live in Gilford NH, and our Yacht club closes at end of Oct, so that is when I must take my boat out ;-(
so for me it is only 45 days away ;-)

Thanks again for the ideas! I am new to dual V's, in the past only having a small outboard 4 stroke engine.

Re: Repowering a dual engine 1970's Trojan

awesome ideas!

I think the flow meter would be very cool...
to know what low RPM gets good flow rate and what high speed rpm on plane gets best gph

thanks again for the great ideas and thoughts and advice!

you are a great asset to this forum!

thanks

Re: Repowering a dual engine 1970's Trojan

Great thoughts BIG D! I love the idea of replacing and checking a multitude of other boat things while engines are out! I don't know the past history of the engines, so I am not sure how I would know if they were rebuilt?! Is there an easy way to check? Speaking of engine hours, my meters are at 230...

Re: Repowering a dual engine 1970's Trojan

great thoughts BIG D! let's change the direction of this thread a bit... REBUILDING the 318's what is involved? what is minimum that should be done what is the maximum that could be done? what are the benefits? do you reset the hour meters? would you change out original electronic ignition with new ...

Re: Repowering a dual engine 1970's Trojan

Let me rephrase the question... This is more of an intellectual disscussion on pie in the sky ideas and solutions, while still being practical... My main objective was not to save fuel... I just threw that out there... and BTW... I had my last boat for 9 years, a custom built pontoon boat made out o...
