Re: Crazy Idea...

i'm looking to get an aft cabin and keep it in Fl and use it as a condo for the winter. Cost of marinas and insurance are substantial not to mention upkeep. Great idea if you're going to get some use of it.

Re: Gas Smell after Running Engine

I had a similar problem that i only smelled gas after shutdown and couldn't find the leak. Turns out it was the fuel/water seperator, the thing that looks like a spin on oil filter. The was a pin hole up high and when running didn't leak but when i shut off the engine it would leak until the gas dro...

after about 2 minutes they stopped smoking, but boy for those 1st few minutes the mairna was filled with smoke. i do have to guess that the engines hadn't been started in some time as the broker said the current owner never takes it out.

The engines were DD 671's with about 1200 hrs. it was about 50 degrees out and smoke did clear up within a minute or 2.

Would a 4 stroke like a cat also smoke like that on startup?

salt water vs fresh water

I've been considering a 12 meter internation aft cabin as a potential part time live aboard and saw a decent one last year near Detroit. This week end i traveled to NJ and saw another but lots of issues. binnacles and most every metal part on bridge were very pitted, one throttle wouldn't even move....

Kevinz - regarding the crusader blue touchup, if you have the spay just spray a bit into the cap to get a puddle and then you can use a touchup brush.

i have a UPS store and where as i'm not a UPS employee (the UPS stores are independantly owned) can say a few things about UPS (and FEDEX too) first regarding the $1500 camera lenes, if the company he bought them from did insure them for $1,000 or more UPS automatically requires a signature. This se...

Jerry, You're doing pretty much what i had envisioned to do to boat we'd buy. I agree the fu-fu colors have to go! On our 10 meter that we had years ago it had that big diagonal strip near the transom. Took it off and redid the boot strip, changed canvas color, replaced carpets. The old owner happen...

Jerry, thanks for the feedback on that boat in MI. how long have you had your boat and what changes/updates did you do when you first got her? it looks beautiful in the picture. I like the minimal stripping, if i did get one like the MI boat i would take off the heavy stripping on it. do you have an...

Jerry,

any idea why it's been on the market so long?

What do you like most about your 12 meter...what do you like least?

the 12 meter we went aboard was Harrison, MI north of Detroit. Out of water, nice condition. I've searched yachtworld and have seen quite a few. I'm sure there will different ones to look at when the time comes to buy. We just wanted to narrow the choice. Had considered 40-46 Jeffersons, Californian...

we live in the Buffalo, NY area, boated on lake erie for 30 years and have spent a week or 2 at a time on a boat. I'm looking to do an early retirement next year and started reading blogs about the great loop and cruises to the bahama. We went a few months ago to Deale, MD to look at boats and came ...
