Re: 12 Meter Express HUGE Access Hole

Very few caulks will stick to satrboard. If you caulk it, the caulk will fail and it will leak unless you use Sudbury Elastomeric Marine Sealant. You still need mechanical fastening.

Re: Installing Stern Thruster

It flowed out quite well I think. Sure it isn't as smooth as a spray job, but it is so easy to use. We went with Pure White to match the Kiwigrip White as close as possible. Used Medium Gray for the accent stripe. The stripe has a handrail that is impossible to remove and the roller would not fit un...

Re: Installing Stern Thruster

We launched our boat last week. Left it in the slings while I rushed below to look for any leaks around the 8" hole that the thruster was installed into. No leaks. Have only used it a couple of times, but seems to work great. Looking forward to using it more, but first I have to finish fabricat...

Re: New member looking to transport '74 F32

My F32 was about 14000 pounds. It was a 1978 with 318s. I think if it is going over the raod you will have to remove the flybridge which means that all the wiring will have to be disconnected as well as the steering and control cables. If you do this be absolutely meticulous about labeling everythin...

Re: 10 Meter Express new hardtop install

I put an AT hardtop on my previous F32 over the cockpit. It was very easy to do. It took 2 people about a day. We made a temporary support out of 2 X 4s at the right height to hold it in place while we bolted it on. Don't know if you will have to do that or not since yours will probably have permane...

Re: 1976 F-44 an Off Shore Boat?

We left Everett in early May and got as far as Humbolt Bay and then got weathered in with 60 knot winds and 25 foot seas predicted. Left the boat in Humbolt for 4 weeks before we could get back and resume the trip. We started again on 5 July and ran it to LA. Overall a great trip but we were in deli...

Re: 1976 F-44 an Off Shore Boat?

I have run a 46' trawler from Seattle to LA. We experienced up to 18' seas and we were trying to pick the weather. My trawler took the waves far better than an F44 will. As mentioned Trojans typically experience slewing when hit by waves from astern. Coming down the coast, you will have predominantl...

Re: Installing Stern Thruster

Finished up the installl. Did a quick test with the joy stick and the wireless remote. It works in both directions. Can't wait to see how well it does in the water.

Re: Installing Stern Thruster

I am almost done with the stern thruster installation. Just need to finish up some small details and pretty up the area of the thruster. Also need to get power to the wireless remote control. The wireless remote will come in handy when docking or locking since my wife handles the bow and I have to g...

Re: Rudder bearing removal

Try something like PB Blaster while tapping with a hammer to help it penetrate. If that does not work, try heating (very carefully) and or cooling with dry ice. The expansion and contraction may break it free.

Re: Installing Stern Thruster

I went with a Side Power 8hp with dual props. I don't remember the exact model right now. I went with SP due to being able to upgrade it to the variable speed controller. With that you can run the thruster longer and it has a hold function for docking. My boat is a 41' President DC. It is 13'5"...

Re: Bilge pumps...where to install

I think that I would go larger than 2 750gph pumps. The shower sump isn't really a bilge pump so I would not count it. Boat/US recommends 1600 to 2000 gph for 35 to 40' boats. I would stray to the larger end of the scale and bigger is always better in bilge pumps. Then size your wiring correctly and...

Re: Installing Stern Thruster

I don't have photos of the tunnel install yet. Just of cutting the 8" hole in the transom. I will try to take some photos of the tunnel tomorrow. I had to build up the port and starboard sides of the hole to remove the camber of the transom. I put wax paper on the face of the tunnel and liberal...
