Re: starting batterys

15 year old starting batteries Holy Moley! I second Prowlerfish. If you decide to shop around, you may find this useful: http://www.solar-electric.com/deep-cycle-battery-faq.html#Starting,%20Marine,%20and%20Deep-Cycle%20Batteries On their advice I started using group 29 deep cycle batteries, which ...

Re: thank god for survey's

Better to find this stuff out before you buy than after! I once spent $2000 and a couple of vacation days not buying a boat. You need to keep a sharp eye out, as you are, because you never know if the seller is trying to pawn off their junk, or just doesn't know the extent of the issues with their b...

Re: Lets see your helms

Until they close tomorrow, West Marine has the Garmin 740s on sale for $800. Plus, there is a $200 rebate from garmin if you purchase the G2 chart upgrade before 7-7-13. I have done a lot of research and was on the fence with respect to going with the Garmin 740s or the 741sx with the CHIRP sounder....

Re: Trojan Jackets....

had a slow night and so whipped up a couple of jacket schemes/colours
Don't worry, it'll be summer in Canada soon!

BS aside, I like the far right in the top row best. So are you in the textile business or what? Any idea what a jacket would cost?

Re: Exceptional International 10 Meter on E-Bay

You sould buy it , it will match the new dock lines NO! NO! NO! Prowlerfish that is my post! I'm within 50 feet of them right now. I asked him as a courtesy to other people on the dock if he would switch the stern lines (the teal ones) with the bow lines (which are white) so we wouldn't have to loo...

Re: Head question

tank may contain methane gas ( comes from waste ) Not to mention it is probably on a gas boat. I never dreamed that it would be done in situ. Does one really have to go into the safety minutia on every job, like wear your safety glasses and tuck in loose clothing when working with rotating tools? F...

Re: Head question

Of course I haven't seen or smelled it in person, but I'm not sure that you need to replace it. My inclination would be to stop-drill the ends of the cracks, sand the area, clean it with an appropriate solvent, and reinforce the area by laminating a patch over it. For $50 and two hours, you could fi...

TABMAN down

I was perusing thehulltruth this morning and read this sad news about TABMAN. He reportedly had a brain aneurysm.

TABMAN has helped a lot of folks here. My thoughts are with him.

Not mine. But my kid does like to brag that I bought a 36 foot Trojan. I remind him that not only is it 36 ft long, it is 13 ft wide!

Re: Fixing AC air flow issue

It's nice to see folks take the time to make something that does what needs to be done, rather than kluge crap together from the shelves of Home Depot. And by "Not pretty, but functional," I am sure that you mean that you carefully selected the surface texture and specifically designed the...

Re: New to Trojan boats and forun

Indeed, welcome. What year are you looking at? I have an '85 tri, and would be happy to help with any specific questions. There's a guy here named Aaron Bocknek who has an '81ish tri who is a veritable encyclopedia, but if you've lurked at all you already know that. Feel free to post any questions t...

Re: TriCabin Aft Hatch Seal

Sorry -- just as I clicked submit, I noticed vernacular from my almost-former hobby. A pirep (pilot report) is a first-hand account of conditions, usually weather, but also other useful operational information. In this instance it would be hidden obstacles or other nice-to-knows about the seal repla...

Re: TriCabin Aft Hatch Seal

It is possible to open it without much difficulty though, right? While Aaron can attest that I use mine with regularity, it is after all, an emergency escape hatch. When you get around to replacing it, please report back, at least to Aaron. I don't think that he has done his yet and would probably l...

Any recommendations regarding where to buy the hardware http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/main.do Of course I also like McMaster. Plus they do have the fiberglass sheet that was mentioned for backing plates. I used 1/2" and had it waterjet cut to make backing plates for my throug...

Re: TriCabin Aft Hatch Seal

Is there none of the original seal left that you can measure to size the replacement? McMaster.com has an assortment of seals that will do the trick for you once you know what you need. See: http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-adhesive-backed-weatherstripping-foam/=n0omh6 I believe I once told Aaron t...
