Re: Trans Controls - 1 sticky,1 loosie goosie
It will come out the other end using that process, make sure you use rags there. It makes a big difference...... for me stiff cables became like new.

Re: New guy looking to buy a F-26
I think you are the lucky one. Your plan to inject to prevent rot increase would likely fail. Once the core is wet it needs to be dried and/or be removed to prevent expansion of rot. Rot spreads to adjacent dry balsa on it's own as it is 'living' microbe.

Re: Shipping 32 Trojan
You may not need to remove the whole bridge, all I needed to do was remove the wind deflector (see on fwd deck), remove steering wheel and the shifters. NOTE the console within the bridge is higher than bridge surround so you would gain a couple more inches by laying that down within the bridge surr...

Re: Replacement Nav Side Lights
They arrived via UPS yesterday and they are pretty robust for the money and the "marine" designation. I fired them up in the basement and they really do throw off some light compared to the tiny incandescents they are replacing. I was looking at sealed LED stern units, but I think I am ju...

Re: New guy looking to buy a F-26
I single hand my F32 frequently in an out of the slip and out to anchorages. I also tow a 14' runabout as my dinghy which I use to return to the marina to pickup my wife when she arrives having secured the prime anchorage midweek. I still maintain you will be better off starting with an F32....... y...

Re: New guy looking to buy a F-26
Your option two works well... a buddy uses three on his 46' trawler rather than replace 2 marineairs... of course space is a non issue for him. The price from HD/Lowes made it a no brainer he said. They also work well and cool the space quickly and are quiet. He runs them on his house bank using Inv...

Re: New guy looking to buy a F-26
The fuel usage is a huge turnoff and probably enough to make me do a 180 on the whole idea. I'm just afraid of the slippery slope. Start looking at F32's then on to 34's and before I know it I'm into a twin diesel trawler pushing 40'. I've read to find the boat that is as small as you can live with...

Re: New guy looking to buy a F-26
I'm coming into this with being able to afford something much more expensive but hesitant until I find out if the cabin boat thing is for us. That's another reason I don't think I'll have this boat long term. If the wifey enjoys it I'd bet on a full restoration or a boat in the $50,000 range. Only ...

Re: Location of in hull transducer
I would think forward is better.... it is unlikely to be out of the water on plane. I have forward scanning on my President and it is aft of midships, different hull shape so not so relevant... If your's is forward scanning I doubt you need to worry about another 5/10 feet forward. Mine gives me goo...

Re: F28 List
Why would you add ballast of 240 lbs to carry around? When underway Trim tabs will keep you level or even wind effect lean! Is it really that big a deal to have a tilt when at the dock? I don't worry about any lean at rest and certainly would not add ballast to increase my fuel burn, there have got ...

I may have a spare I can let go... The snow and ice needs to be gone before I can get to the boat. Check with me in mid April.

We used Murphy's oil to clean it and then Tung teak oil to bring back the COLOUR.
