Re: COVID-19 Michigan Boating Season
Michigan guvna is a piece of work. My condolences. https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/michigans-governor-declares-gun-shops-non-essential-attempts-to-shut-them-down/ In the People's Republic of Maryland, our guvna said essential travel to essential places only (groceries, care for family, buy a gun o...

Revised guidance now says subsistence hunting and fishing OK. Drag a line and you're good to go.

And IIRC, diameter was 3/8". Length about 4", but you can guesstimate that. Hull might be 1/2" there. They are generally thinner than people think.

Re: Prop strut backing plates
the wooden ones have lasted this long; why change now? I threw that out there because I acknowledge that it might be OK for some folks, but that's just not how I roll though. I own my OCD. The nicest thing ever said about me I wasn't supposed to hear. Was replacing the cable life line that was on t...

Re: Prop strut backing plates
I used 0.5 in fiberglass sheet from the Man's Toy Store -- mcmaster.com. Took it to a granite countertop place n had them water jet cut to size. No risk to my health. Expensive, but didnt ruin any saw blades. Perfect edges too. Also had them do seacock backing plates and my underwater exhaust backin...

Re: Tips for reinstalling removable cabin roof on a 36' Tricabin
While you have your headliner down, consider insulating the overhead in order to reduce air conditioning load. And I saw a tri once that had replaced the factory hatch with a piece of plexiglass so as to form a skylight. As for sealant, unless you know that you are going to sell your boat to someone...

D-i-e-s-e-l. It's how you spell "pre-pay your gasoline bill." When I repowered, I looked at going diesel. You know, just for grin$. I would have had to use my gas boat at a rate way more than I ever have to date, and for the rest of my natural (boating) life just to break even. The only p...

Re: engine synchronization gauge
OK, so not a solution to the synchro issue per se. Rather, my solution when my tachs went. I bought a pair of these, and ditched the idiot synchro light that I formerly had. Only issue is that they are a bit bright at night. I will eventually dim them, but for now I just throw my hat over them (it b...

.....Prop nuts by the book thin nut first then the thick nut ..... No ya did it, you went and opened up a can of worms again:wink: Some will argue, but yes, thin (jam) nut against the prop, then the thick nut last. The proper way to install a prop is to slide the prop on, use the thick nut first an...

Re: Sanitary hose replacement fun
When I replaced my heads with vacuflush, I went to clear PVC wherever possible. Is it possible to maneuver 8 ft. lengths of pipe in the engine room of a 36' boat? Survey says..... YES! I used Poly X elsewhere. https://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/show_product.do?pid=14411 https://www.mcm...
