Re: Project "Tri Fly"

If your batteries are anything other than old school lead acid, they will thank you to use the Pro Sport. Our boat came with $$$ AGM batteries and the original Bomar 15A charger. I am really glad it failed and got me to install a Pro Mariner before the batteries were ruined!

Re: 2016 Cheasapeke bay rendevouis Poll

After going through all the responses, it seems like there is no clear consensus. I think we should either come up with a location mid-Bay or have one in the North and one in the South. My vote would be mid-Bay.

In any case, I think we should have one!!!

Re: Project "Tri Fly"

Barrie, having been a general contractor and having built a few race cars, I think I have a pretty good understanding of what you are accomplishing. Your boat is going to be outstanding!!!

Re: Happy Days rental, Trent Severn

If the rental company uses VHF radio to keep track of their boats, be sure to listen in. When we chartered in the Bahamas, my favorite conversations began with: I ran aground in the middle of the channel . He kept insisting he was in the channel and we thought it was so funny that we had to pull anc...

Todd, in case you want some more incentive, you should run this by your surveyor. I am pretty sure I know what he would say...

Re: 1987 10 meter mid cabin complete restoration.

Todd, I don't know how much this will help, but we bought our F36 last spring after 10 years with a much loved 25' bow rider. My teenage girls were about to kill me and were lukewarm about the boat my wife and I believe is the best fit for our family. After a couple of nights on the boat with a leak...

Re: Winter Tarp Questions

Keep in mind - ventilation and holes in the top of the cover are not the same thing. Things that let moisture in are not so good, while ventilation is. Holes let moisture/rain/melted snow in, which can run wherever it wants to go, and can turn to ice when temperatures dip (and if it makes its way i...

Re: Winter Tarp Questions

Captainmaniac, thanks for the ideas on how to fold the tarp! I had already decided to run a sharpie marker down the tarp next to the ridge pole and along the center rib, basically marking a cross-hair to align the tarp next year. I knew that I needed to make a plan to fold it but had not thought any...

Re: Winter Tarp Questions

The whole job took two of us two half days and a third very full day, working from 10am to 11pm, with it snowing for the last five hours. Luckily the tarp was on top of the boat by the time the snow started, but I would not call it pleasant working conditions! The real test of our design and constru...

Re: Winter Tarp Questions

I ended up buying a 40' x 60' white nylon tarp from Billboard Tarps. The 40' width was perfect and I had considered going with only 50' long, but the difference in cost was not that great. The tarp weighed at least 125 lbs and was a real bear to get up onto the boat and spread over the frame. Once i...

Re: Winter Tarp Questions

I appreciate all the help given and wanted to follow up with what I ended up doing. The frame was built out of about 550' of 3/4" EMT conduit, using about 20 Kover Klamps, 10 Framemaker "T" clamps and 10 Framemaker 4-way clamps. The 4-way clamps were used to attach the ribs to the rid...

Re: New Member - Beginning of a Restoration Journal

Another thing to consider is that the combo washer/dryers do not dry all that well. I would be tempted to only have a washer if that is all the space I had. Line dry the clothes in the cockpit on a nice day. When we bought our F36, we gave up two items on our high priority list -- a separate shower ...
