Re: 1975 F32 False keel

I have the hollow keel on my F26 and cut a big enough access hole in it to run an occasional shop vac to drain it. It bugged me for the first 2-3 years because it had a 1/4” hole in it that was too small to do any serious drainage. Started expanding the hole cautiously and realized it was a hollow k...

Re: Considering a 1986 F27 but...12MPH top speed?

I’ve got a 1977 F26 with single Chrysler 318 @225 hp and it’ll get up to 22 mph 4200 rpm WOT. Easily cruises at 8-10 mph at 1800 rpm.

Re: Engine issue

Got up to the boat today. Removed and replaced the water filter from the gas line. Rust colored and some crud on top. Filter had not been changed since 6/19. Cleaned air filter/flame arrestor and carb. Ran engine after replacing filter and it bogged down, stalled and then came back to life and ran f...

Re: Engine issue

Thanks, Kallen. All good advice. Already called my mechanic but he’ll be busy this week or next so I’ll have time to see if I can fix the issue myself.

Engine issue

Coming back today the ol’ Blue Heron decided to konk out on me. I noticed hard starting before we left the dock, but no problem getting out. On the way back I was cruising slowly at 1500 - 1800 RPM (Single 1977 Chrysler 318 w/4bbl carb) and the RPMs started to decrease and finally the engine quit.. ...

Re: Regards from new member

Hi Goran
Yes, I like the VictronConnect app too. Nice to see what is going on with solar power when I’m away from the boat.
You added 500 kilograms to your boat? Wow, that’s a lot of weight!

Re: Regards from new member

Goran, my F26 is 1977 with original engine (Chrysler Marine 318 w 225 hp at 4000 rpm) and original prop Nibral 14x9. I knew the original owner and have all the original paperwork, manuals, invoices, etc. I believe Prowlerfish is correct that the 14x9 or 14x10 would be fine for your new diesel power....

Re: Regards from new member

My original prop for my 1977 F26 is 14 X 9. Power is Chrysler Marine 318 cu. in. 225 hp. @ 4000 rpm. Top speed at WOT is 21 mph with just me, flat calm water and empty water tank & waste tank. Hope that helps.

Re: Regards from new member

Oh, almost forgot, our perfect time in Dubrovnik, where we walked the wall and had supper with a farm family in the countryside. First time I tried homemade walnut brandy. Oh so tasty!! Lots of good memories.

Re: Regards from new member

Welcome, Goran. We have a 1977 26 and added 340W of solar panels to the hardtop this summer. They really work well and keep our batteries charged when away from shore power. We spent a few months in Croatia on vacation and found it to be a wonderful country. We were in Zagreb and then took a bus dow...

Re: Gelcoat - EVERCOAT One step Premium Gel Kote

I repaired some soft spots on my foredeck a couple-3 years ago and sealed the resulting saw lines (kerf lines) with West white epoxy in a caulking tube with a mixing tip. Then after sanding the rougher areas smooth I used Easypoxy one-part poly with a roller on the non-skid and roller and tip method...

Re: Rudder on the rocks...1980 F25

Glad you were able to repair it yourself. Saved some big bucks there! Check you rudder box, etc for leakage when you replace the rudder/post and get it back on the water.

Re: ‘77 F26 HT going solar

Gotta say, I am loving this new solar system. When I leave the boat at the dock for a few days away I’ll plug into shore power as it keeps the old “never cold” AC/DC fridge running off AC (it’s original to the boat from 1977 and I keep wanting to replace it, but it just refuses to die.....Zombifridg...

Re: Rudder on the rocks...1980 F25

Did the same thing to our F26 last year, but really did a number on it. Bent the shaft back almost 20 degrees. It was barely steerable but we limped back to dock. Checked in with my service/storage marina nearby and they told me to check with my insurance carrier first regarding repair reimbursement...
