ATTN: Tricab owners -- spotlight question

There is no spotlight on my 1985 model (but there is about to be). I noticed that there is a switch on the DC panel labelled "spotlight". There is a wire leaving the switch, going down into the mass of all of the other black wires leaving the DC panel. Does anyone know off-hand where said ...

P-dog will you be hooking up a 3rd meter for the gen-set ? It is done. I did not include it in the post because it would be like the movie Groundhog Day. I just showed the shore power set-up because I did it first. I figured it would be enough to encourage people who might not think that they can d...

SHOW OFF! How did you do that?

Hint: Clicking the URL tag and pasting the link after it doesn't work!

Aw shucks guys, thanks. I'm not sure why it didn't show-up as a hot link, but the ebay link is . http://www.ebay.com/itm/300722663809?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 I bought 5 because I was afraid that they might be POSs. I figured that if I had a spare, at least I would have...

Next project: fuel totalizer

Is anyone using a fuel totalizer that outputs, MPG as well as miles to empty? My car has one, planes have them, why doesn't every boat? Floscan makes what I want, but only in a diesel version. Anyone have a source suitable for a twin gas installation? Perhaps there is a chartplotter that takes an in...

My ammeter installation

My 1985 tricabin left the factory without any ammeters installed, something I find incredulous, since I think that there should be some way of indicating how much power you are drawing other than blown breaker method. Wanting to know how much load I as actually drawing from my shore power lines (and...

A tricabin is great for entertaining, but not for serious fishing. Which are you going to do more of? Consider the following points in favor of the tri: - two widely separated staterooms. - two separate, independent heads. Trust me, when your only toilet goes out, it takes the life out of the...

Having recently applied for insurance on my new tricab, I was furious to get the same "we can't give you our best rate" runaround. Having a credit rating in excess of 800, I was a bit peeved. I got the VP of insurance for BoatUS on the phone (Mike Pellerin) and he was able to tell me (unli...

Thank you for your concern Torcan. Some people really got hit hard. South of Baltimore the power is still out, and might be for another week. Last I heard, there were 14 fatalities due to the storm, but based on the the number of people at Home Depot who looked liked they were about to buy their fir...

but most the posts are opinion and not fact. By people that haven't even seen the boat in person, just photos. This is precisely what the moderator told me he thought was the problem. Of course, he then turned around and deleted the thread having not seen the boat in person himself. Recall that it ...

Gyro stabilizers that you find on almost any helicopter these days work by comparing the motion of the vehicle with the commanded inputs. If the gyro detects that the vehicle turned left 19 degrees, and the receiver didn't get a "turn left 19 degrees" command from the transmitter, the gyro...

I corrected myself above and said that it was the nicest that was for sale....
One issue that I want to clarify. This is the best of the tricabs out there that were FOR SALE. No insult intended for any of our esteemed forum members who have a nice tricab that is not for sale.

Synthetics are slippier, if I can speak technically. I agree that extra weeping can be a problem where it wouldn't be with dinosaur oil. The bigger issue is, how often do you use your boat? The old-fashioned oils cling to surfaces better, where they can provide protection from corrosion between uses...

It's worrier, Sir Aaron, as in you are worried about it working. That problem has since been, ahem, fixed. In other news, the thread I referenced about "Broken tabbing, cracks in hull, what's normal?" has been deleted by the moderator. He said there were "issues" but didn't say w...
