Re: Oil & Water Restoration Thread
I think this photo sums up what challenges I face with this project! When you don't have a clue, just grab a couple of fittings and a garden hose at the local hardware store! Nothing solves an electrical problem like cheap tape and butt splice connectors. http://i990.photobucket.com/albums/af24/bww...

Re: 4 blade wheels
A four blade prop will definitely give you more blade area to handle the horsepower however maybe too much. The DJX propeller provides more blade area than the Dynajet while remaining a three blade configuration. I'd suggest doing a little research on this such as talking to the people at Michigan W...

Ok, now you're just throwing salt on the wound. (Or would that be salt water on the wound)El L Sea wrote:Our February in SW Florida has been rough as well. Stayed on the boat last weekend and had to run the A/C the whole time.

Re: Radar
I installed a Garmin GMR 24 HD closed array dome in 2012 and have had good luck with it. I have it plugged directly into a 740S multi function display, which would probably be a little small for you boat, however this radar unit can be used with any size Garmin display either directly or thru a NMEA...

Re: Tachometer Fluctuating
I had a problem with mine, not so much jumping around as drifting, within a range of about 400-500 RPM of what I was actually turning. Turns out all I had to do was turn the selector switch, located on the back of the tachometer, back and forth between cylinder settings a couple of times and just li...

Re: 3200 RPM Max, 225hp LM318....
... why when my boat is stripped down weight wise, is it I cannot get past 3400 RPM ? Regardless of speed... In propellers, the blade area should be directly proportional to the horse power being applied to it. That being said, too much area can load up the engine a little too much before it hits i...

Re: 3200 RPM Max, 225hp LM318....
Hi Paul, I know that you've done allot of work to your boat over the years which makes me wonder how much extra weight you've added with upgrades. When I first got my 26 I installed the 350 and was turning a 14 x 10 prop which allowed me to hit 4700 rpm. As years went on with the addition of a gener...

Re: Msd ignition
I installed a Sierra electronic ignition conversion kit in my Mallory distributor about 10 years ago and haven't had a single ignition issue since. Sure beats the maintenance of keeping the points tuned properly. Hi Paul, Not sure if I had asked you this before, but are running a 318 or 360? And do...

Re: generators
Although I agree with Big D and several other posters that improper use and storage of a portable generator on a boat can pose several dangers, I also know that they can be used safely. We spend allot of weekends on the hook and after doing this on the Trojan it didn't take long to realize that AC p...
