Re: '73 F36 Convertible - What to do?
We have a '75 F36 in the middle of the Bay. Where will you be docking your boat? The F36 is an awesome boat for the Bay, as long as you realize the advantages and limitations of a shallow V hull. Lots of room that is well thought out. Ours has the dinette, which when set up as a berth, is the larges...

Re: Starter/Solenoid One click
My girlfriend has been dutifully promoted to first mate (she gave me a 'you're crazy' look when I informed her,) My wife is the admiral and I am the lowly captain on our boat. In other words, she makes the big decisions and I just drive the boat. Don't tell her, but I really like getting behind the...

Re: Starter/Solenoid One click
It is good to know that it has been running recently! Here is a video of hand cranking an engine. Basically, you use a socket and breaker bar or ratchet to turn the bolt on the crank pulley, turning the crankshaft and making sure all the moving parts actually move. There should be some resistance to...

Re: Starter/Solenoid One click
Have you ever run this engine, or is this a new problem? If it has never been run, you might try to turn it over with a socket on the crank bolt. After sitting for years, the engine could be stuck or even hydro locked. If the engine turns over, it is probably worth the effort to remove the cable to ...

Re: Any Boat Presents This Year?
I also have a similar set of crimpers from ebay. I like making the cables on the spot so I can get the lengths exactly the way I want them without adding a bit of length for insurance. As for Santa, he brought me a 12V drill to keep on the boat. I might have had some input into exactly what I wanted...

Re: F36 Convertible Sliding Door Track
El L Sea, thanks for the photos -- that is quite helpful. Not sure I could do exactly what you did since there are three parallel tracks that are part of the same extrusion on our boat, and there are fixed panels in two of them. 85 degrees sounds good to me. It is sunny here, but only 32 at the mome...

Re: F36 Convertible Sliding Door Track
It seems like Trojan used different tracks on different boats, or possibly ours was replaced at some time. I think I can repair ours for less than a new track would be, if I could even get one. Besides, I like fixing things rather than replacing them!

Re: F36 Convertible Sliding Door Track
Are you sure your door is not just off track ? Just looking at the wear marks . Quite positive. Where the track is not worn at all, it is flat on the top but with the original paint still intact. The wheels are also flat where they meet up with the track. Due to the geometry, you could not put the ...

Re: F36 Convertible Sliding Door Track
The picture of the door frame (1st pic) is from the side on my workbench. I actually just slid the bottom part of the door off the glass and everything so I didn't have to haul the whole door home. The bottom picture shows the actual orientation. The photo without the glass threw me off -- now I un...

Re: F36 Convertible Sliding Door Track
El L Sea, I am not sure about the orientation of your photos. Are the wheels vertical or horizontal when installed?

Re: F36 Convertible Sliding Door Track
Am I seeing that right - your slider runs on the inside of the fixed panels? On my F32 the slider is to the outside (aft side), and screen door is forward (where I think you are showing the marks from the roller circled in red). I would have thought he doors would have been made the same way on bot...

Re: F36 Convertible Sliding Door Track
Door Track.JPG This is a terrible photo, but it is the only one I could find that shows the door tracks from our boat. The closest track is the one the sliding door rides in. If you look at the left side, you can see where the door roller stops when the door is closed. This side does show some wear...

Re: F36 Convertible Sliding Door Track
No photo, but the rail that the door rides on is flat on top, maybe 1/4" or 5/16" wide and 1/2" tall. I was working on other stuff and did not take any photos or measurements, so will have to do that the next time I get to the boat. When you remove the door, you can see the part of th...

Re: F36 Convertible Sliding Door Track
Interesting idea about the stainless U channel. Do you know what type of supplier they came from? McMaster does not have anything that is an obvious fit, though many possibilities if I do some machining. My track is rectangular as are the wheels. I guess I could look at using a rounded track repair ...
