Re: twin power cords tripping gfi

Are there separate neutral bars in your panel for the two cords? If not, that would probably cause the pedestal GFCI to trip depending on how the selector switch is wired. Do you have the factory wiring diagram and is it still accurate? If so, can you post a photo of the AC panel wiring and I will b...

Re: TOTAL BOAT products

I have used a number of Total Boat products and all of them have been good, though I have never used the two you mentioned.

Re: Engine issues

Backfiring through the carb is often a lean condition. I am guessing you checked the external fuel filters, but did you check the filter on the quadrajet fuel inlet?

Re: Inexpensive Chartplotter?

My primary navigation is on an Android tablet running Navionics. The chartplotter displays radar, trip data and gauges. With a wifi connection to the NMEA 2000 network, system data like depth, heading and such is available and displayed on the tablet. The main reason I use the tablet for navigation...

Re: Crusader 454 xli fuel issue?

Oberg filters are not the best when there is a good chance of contamination, especially in a fuel system. If there is no bypass the filter does not have much capacity and quickly restricts flow, and if there is a bypass contaminants will get by it when clogged. I have used Oberg filters on a race ca...

Re: Spring Project 154: Carburetor Upgrade

For reference, there are a number of flaring standards. Many flares are at 45 degrees, but some fuel lines are AN flares at 37 degrees. If you have AN fittings, check hot rod suppliers like Summit and JEGS. And then there are the less common ones... http://blog.parker.com/an-37-flare-vs-industrial-3...

Re: Covid caution for Maryland boaters

Looks like MD is the only state that bans recreational boating . And apparently stepping up enforcement during rockfish trophy season. Since subsistence fishing is allowed, I don't get the additional enforcement. In a year or two, ask me again why I decided to slip our boat in the ONLY state that i...

Re: New to me Trojan 10 meter

The zincs are for sure gone. I replaced the heat exchanger ones the other day and they where completly gone. Since the boat comes out in the morning I wont worry about the fish but thanks for the idea. If you haven't already, you might want to pull off the end caps on the heat exchangers to make su...

I just got an email saying that the Bay Bridge Swim has been cancelled for 2020. We were looking forward to this, but I guess it would be hard to do all the planning with social distancing.

Re: Covid caution for Maryland boaters

Our boat is in Maryland and our marina has closed except for emergency access. That is less of an issue than Maryland requiring us to quarantine for 14 days if we enter the state. Guess all our spring boat projects have become summer ones... I thought it was quite interesting that Maryland's governo...

Re: Prop strut backing plates

For oak, I would use West Systems 105/205 epoxy on all sides of the backing plates, including inside the bolt holes.
