Re: '87 10m express performance

I have heard about an F36 doing 38 knots with the 8.2L big blocks. Not sure about the 10M exactly, but she ought to "fly" with those engines.

Re: Military Appreciation Day - Tidewater VA

At the current moment we are about even between boat seats and troops. Our last month of registration, which is now, is when the numbers get asque where we have more troops than seats. The only reason we are okay at the moment is due to two head boats volunteering seats. If it was not for them, we w...

Re: Craigslist '74 F25 Wood Topsides ??

Alan,

I believe this is a 1974 Trojan Sea Raider 25 Express. Would have been a wooden boat. I am wondering if it is wood that has been glassed based on the pictures.

Will have to wait for others who know those models better to weigh in on this one.

Military Appreciation Day - Tidewater VA

Hi folks, I am hoping that all our southern Chesapeake Bay Trojan owners can help out with a great Active Duty Military event. Military Appreciation Day - Tidewater is rapidly approaching on Saturday, August 26th. We will be hosted this year by Willoughby Marina in Norfolk, VA. This is a big year as...

Re: Slow speed wander

Both my prior 32' Chris Craft and my neighbor's F32 will wander when coming off plane due to water pressure. There is also a decent amount of wander on the F32 if you don't tweak the throttle just right. Those small rudders aren't much for steering at low speed.

Re: Changed fuel filter today oh wow.

If you have glass or plastic sight bowls on gas inboard engines, get them out of there. I just witnessed what the fuel/water separator's with clear plastic sight bowls do after one year inside an engine compartment. I had been warning the owner for over a year that they were not allowed and not a go...

Re: Looking at an F25

As one who is / has tackled the deck and framing, it was not hard. Mine was way worse than this one. It is a two weekend project if you put some pre-planning into the design. The teak was probably salvageable. For those looking to perform a restoration, keep in mind that the strips are only about a ...

Re: Photobucket revoked third party hosting (photo linking)

Interesting thought about Beacon having to pay for hosting photos. I have been storing mine on the forum because that way, they will be there as long as the forum exists. On another forum that I have been active on, I have been hosting the photos on a personal hosting account that I no longer care ...

Re: What have I gotten myself into ....

A suggestion may be to let us know what area of the world you are located, doesn't have to be exact, for example Texas Gulf Coast. There may very well be one of us close by to meet you at the boat and go over the ins and outs. Also, if your boat does not have the owner's manual, call Bob at Beacon M...

Re: Aft deck waterproofing/drainage

On my F36 back deck replacement, the deck never touches the side wall. A trim panel goes up along the side and hides the gap. If you do not want to use the trim panel idea, then you could take a kiln dried hardwood 2x4 and glass it onto the side of the boat. I'd recommend some sort of construction a...

Re: Great Lakes water levels

OMG, mosquitos. I can't even imagine how bad those suckers are going to be. At my parents home, it is very marshy, often times with standing water. The tiger mosquitoes are as big as 747s. You get out of the car and there is an air traffic controller on your arm, waving in the girls to land! I climb...

Re: Great Lakes water levels

The flooding is unfortunate and as seen from the video, quite severe. Here on the Atlantic, in over 30 years, we have seen sea levels rise enough that a super tide can engulf property that long ago would never be touched. It is only getting worse. Our high tides are now almost at the top of boat ram...
