Re: COIL HEATING UP AND CUTTING OUT

That version uses a ballast resistor which drops the voltage in run. Check the voltage at the positive of the coil when in run. should be about 8v. Possible culprits are the resistor or the start switch or the electronic control box. You can switch to a pertronix unit and eliminate the electronics b...

Re: prop sizing for 36' tri-cabin

On My 81 there is a sump under a hatch at the end of the bed. It drains both the tub and the sink. the sump is basically a small pan with a bilge pump in it. I replaced that with a closed sump. The head goes elsewhere

Tricabin instrument upgrade

After owing Trivia Pursuit for about 3 years I got tired of looking at the instrument panel with come gauges not working. I decided to upgrade the panel, gauges and switches. I found some rocker switches that were illuminated and were marked. The same place that sold the switches also cut the panels...

Re: engine removal on 36' Tri-Cabin

I have a little experience in removing an engine. I bought a 81 Tri Cabin 3 years ago with the starboard engine seized up. Because of my location in the marina and my overall frugality I decided to replace the engine by removing it through the cabin door. I have 360 Chryslers and the block will fit ...

Re: Repairing Speedometer

I have a paddle wheel speedometer on a trailer boat. The spedo stopped working and I could not figure out why. When I looked under the boat I could see the wheel with one paddle hanging down. On further investigation I found that one paddle was broken off and the wheel would only turn 1/2 revolution...

Re: Engine sync at idle ?

My tri cabin has electronic ignition and I replaced the carbs with Edelbrock 1409 carbs. The previous owner replaced the distributor on the starboard engine with a Mallory electronic marine unit. The port engine is a Chrysler electronic distributor. Throttle body injection for marine applications an...

Re: Tub drain access

I finally found the access. The access Is through the vanity in the head. You remove the lower cabinet and you can get to the tub drain. I thought the sink was draining in the bilge but there is a T in the line to the sump. I am guessing that the hose is 30 year old stuff and was coming apart. The d...

Tub drain access

I need to change the drain hose on the aft cabin tub on a 81 Tri cabin. I cannot find any access hatches or anything else. I do admit that my size does not allow me to crawl in some of the spaces, but I can access most areas. I have found many interesting things since the purchase and repair, such a...

macerator location

I am finishing up the projects on a 36 Tri Cabin I purchased about a year ago. I have put off some projects with getting both engines functional (rebuilt) first. Now I am tackling the sanitation issues. The forward head is the most straight forward with replacing the old hose which looks like the ho...

Re: Moving from Fresh to Salt

The 20 people was to inject a little humor. Only a large party fishing boat of about 75 feet could hold that amount of people. Its not all about the weight its about the amount of room you have to walk around and fight a fish. I found the best number on my Mako was 3 or 4. Any more than that and the...
