Re: Staples
I did check monel's. No go. The staple gun is made by Arrow. I called them and they said they are only made in steel, but all their steel staples are galvanized. They said the galvanized staples may not stain, but over time they may dissolve in marine application. I guess my plan is to use T 50 stai...

Re: Project "Tri Fly"
Barrie, i's amazing to see what you are doing. You have a lot more energy than most people especially me. I have nearly the same boat. Mine's 73 Tri cabin. I thought I should let you know of a few things I did since you have everything in the engine area exposed. My engine box was secured to the str...

So now that I repaired my soft deck, I need to replace the headliner in the v birth caused by the soft deck repair. I've already done the aft cabin bed room headliner last winter so I know how to do it and already have plenty of replacement headliner material. There is a tight area where I need to u...

Re: Soft deck
Thanks. I'm still incredibly sore from kneeling and pushing up and whatever else. It is tuff work from below. I have other pics but can't figure out how I got the ones in the link . I'll try again later. Anyways, I appreciate the comment.

Re: Soft deck
I know you guys recommended that I cut the deck from the top, but after going thru West Systems web site I saw a video showing how they cut from below. I cut mine from below.......and as you said the rot was a lot larger than I thought and it went into the anchor locker. It really wasn't that hard t...

Re: MCCK gen spark plugs
I do have one more question. The plug wires have tiny spring on the end that pushes against the spark plug contact. I'd like to put a little dielectric grease on the spring and contact. Not just for conductivity but I thought it might help with oxidation that I see on the spring. What do you you thi...

Re: MCCK gen spark plugs
I've done some checking thru different internet sites one called twins lean.net has every manual Onan ever made. Anyways, the toque pattern is typical for other cylinder heads in that you start in the middle and criss cross to the upper end and then lower end, kind of like a rolling pin effect. I al...

Re: MCCK gen spark plugs
Thank you. I don't have a torque pattern. I was just going to go to the opposite bolt (zig zag). Do you have something you can describe?

Re: MCCK gen spark plugs
I just pulled the heads yesterday. The spark plug wires came off with no problem. Several water jackets in both heads were plugged and so was a re circulation port at both thermostats. It looks like black crust (probably rust). Anyways, I cleaned it all out. This things going to run beautifully now....

Re: Tri cabin black water cleanout
Are you talking about the drain in the well in front of the captain's seat? That's the only drain I have on my 73 Tri cabin. Mine goes to a thru hull above the water line beside the kitchen sink thru hull.

MCCK gen spark plugs
I ran my generator a few times this summer for the first time in a very long time. I see a lot of white smoke and am thinking a head gasket could be leaking coolant into the cylinder. I've ordered new head gaskets and plan to pull the heads in a few weeks. My question is how does one remove the plug...
