Re: Hello Everyone and Help Please
I can fully appreciate the feedback given on the surveyor. However, Jim is beyond the survey part. At this point, he needs to find a good overall Marine mechanic that can service his vessel. For example, a Marine Service would be an excellent place to start. A surveyor at this point will still be no...

Re: Hello Everyone and Help Please
Jim, Those appear to be part of a shaft grounding system. It would have been added by a previous owner as extra protection against stray marina current. Whether you need it or not would be a question of how fast the underwater metals are damaged. Think of it as a lightning rod for underwater to prot...

Re: 1962 3100 seabreeze engine question
Does it sputter like a loss in fuel or just cut off?

Re: 1962 3100 seabreeze engine question
Does it reach top rpm in neutral, but not under load? Boat been sitting? What does full tune up mean to you? The more detail you can provide, the more likely you will get a diagnosis rather than an RP. One of my crusaders had similar symptoms. Turned out to be weak mechanical advance springs. It do...

Re: Hello Everyone and Help Please
Jim, Unless you have a crack or a leaking thru-hull, then you should be able to diagnosis in the water, make repairs, and enjoy the boat. The F36's are bow heavy and will accumulate water up at the bow first. Start by drying out the bilge with a manual pump, like a Beckson Thirsty Mate pumped into a...

Re: Looking for a few good boaters for Norfolk Harborfest
I've got friends' boats at East Beach and Vinings.Lizz wrote:Bret, where is your boat? We're at Little Creek. See a few Trojans around there.
Mine is in Hampton on the hard for now. Hoping to get it in the water and over that direction mid-fall timeframe.

Re: Choosing new Carb for Chrysler M360
I put the Edelbrock 1409 on twin 305's I had. Decent carb that was fairly easy to service. I've heard the Holley's are much more complicated, but do a really good job when tweaked in right.
You are right though, very few choices.

Choosing new Carb for Chrysler M360
Helping a friend upgrade his 1979 F32. Twin Chrysler M360's. He is replacing the carbs on both engines and wants to do some basic performance upgrades to enhance the stock performance without compromising the ruggedness / reliability of the engines. Currently running the stock OEM AFB''s and OEM Ele...

Sorry for the simple question... have you ever gone above that and if so, what is your maximum RPM achieved and speed?
Anything changed since then?

Re: Mansfield Toilet System
I had a similar issue with a Vacuflush system. It ended up being a stuck vent valve that wouldn't seal. Check the overboard vent first.

Re: ? Raw Water Cooling in the Salt ?
Depending on your flushing routine, you can easily get 30 years out of a block. Expect to replace your manifolds every five to ten years depending on your use. When they start getting clogged up, you can clean them once or twice, then expect replacement. Buy quality manifolds and risers. They last l...

Re: '87 10m express performance
I have no direct experience with the 8.1l re powers, but have read on several different forums that's owners with F36 size boats are burning around 60GPH at WOT. Around 30-36GPH at cruise. My buddy's Regulator 28 with twin Yami 300's burns 59GPH at WOT, but that's at close to 70MPH. Moral of the sto...
