Re: Simulated Teak

Looks great! Appears you did fill in where the original Teak was with Fiberglass, then put simulated over that. And bonus... i am also considering replacing my Good windlass with a chain/Rode combo. I have currently a small section of chain and the rest Rode. Id like to have at least 10-15 feet of c...

Auto Pilot

Looking at adding auto pilot to the 11 meter. I recently updated Radar to Raymarine eS78 which has chartplotter, fish finder, Radar, cameras, and Auto Pilot capability. Pretty much does everything except clean fish. Also have a Garmin GPSmap 420. I know vey little about Auto pilot. We primarily fish...

Re: Simulated Teak

Simulated Teak

Anchor pulpit teak inlay has been significantly sanded down for re-finish many times. To the point is is about 1/4" below the fiberglass housing. I love original teak, but hate having to re-finish it every few years. Thinking about covering it with the simulated Teaks I have been looking at. To...

Re: Dinghy tug....

All good points, however, been boating for 30 years on the great lakes, experienced pretty much everything from floating logs, 12 foot waves, pea fog, lots of idiots, and more idiots, but have yet to see the floating cow (while cruising). So very well aware of the “quickly needing horses” to stop, t...

Re: Dinghy tug....

Well, there you have it, good to know I’m not even close to being the craziest boater out there. Plenty of examples out there to prove that. In a few months I’ll post my trial run results ( no pictures or videos). Again this would not be my sole source of propulsion. I’d fire up the girls when neede...

Re: Dinghy tug....

Now that is ..... um.... impressive. However, being a supplier to a large boat engine supplier, that is the trend for small to midsized cruisers. Fill the transom with outboards.

Waiting for someone to post a power boat with a sail...

Re: Dinghy tug....

P-dogg, Wow, that boat in the link is a work of art..... The comments even better. Still laughing. Nope, certainly not gonna do anything remotely close to that. And if anyone sees me with something like that, permission to launch torpedoes granted. Yes, will use the boat as intended, but for giggles...

Dinghy tug....

Ok, try not to laugh too hard at this, as this is a feel the crown moment. Planning on doing the loop in a few years once I retire. Our boat is a 1988 11 meter. Should be perfect for the trip as she is in tip top shape. Just need to add portable washer/dryer and first mate will be “on board”. Here i...

Re: 11 meter fueling issue

Spot on RWS. My calculated hull speed is just under 8 MPH. I used 34 feet waterline. That is my leisure speed most of the time. However, the first mate gets hungry, and the crew threatens mutiny if we dont reach port in a timely manner, so, sometimes we step it up. But only slightly. At cruise speed...

Re: Onan 6.5 died, see sparks!

Your sparks more than likely came from the generator side of your unit. No ignition protection there. That girl is what generates your raw regulated power to your system. There are windings, capacitors, and a rectifier that all are capable of little bolts of lightning ( which is why you should ALWAY...

Re: 11 meter fueling issue

Glad to hear. You should have a screen cover on your vent hose to keep mud making bugs out. If not, you can make one out of aluminum screen that is cut to just sligtly bigger than the vent, make it into a cup shape and push in with pencil eraser side. It will stay put and keep out the critters Good ...

Re: 11 meter fueling issue

May want to check the vent, you should actually see fumes exhausting from the vent during fueling. If not check that first, secondly check your main fuel hose from fill point to tank, if you lift your starboard rear hatch, you can see it pretty good, if one of the supports that hold it up, failed, y...
