Stuck intake valve
Started the motors yesterday and the port engine was making a popping noise. I pulled off the valve covers and found a broken push rod. One of the intake valves was rusted shut. Disconnected all the cables, wires and hoses so I can pull the motor tomorrow. If I can strip everything off by Tuesday I ...

Re: USGC Inspection POLL
A member at my yacht club does inspections for the Power Squadron, so I have it done almost every year.

Re: Vacuflush location on an F36
I also have a 1988 F-36, PO installed a Jabsco electric flush toilet. The holding tank is about 22 gallons and it's installed in the space below the refrigerator. He added an access panel on the port side, next to the stairs to visually see the level in the tank. It has both a deck fitting and a mac...

Re: Fuel senders
Maybe those diesels are wider than my Mercruisers. My tanks are wedge shaped and I think the sender is offset to the inboard side. I have the extended range tanks below the cockpit, those gauges are next. Looks like you did a neat job, which is no surprise.

Re: Sea Trial Tomorrow
Congratulations, I have the same boat. 1988 F-36, bought her in 2011. Mine has been repowered with 1996 Mercruisers. Your video made me feel like I was at my helm.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Re: Fuel senders
Prowlerfish, I did mine last year with the same senders. My F-36 has a plywood panel directly over the fuel tanks on either side of the salon. I just removed the screws and pried it up. My interior must be different then yours.

Re: When Do you Give Up?
Don't give up. Get her in the water and pick away at the list. The season is short in New England, May to October at best. Take care of the important things (engines, hull) and work on the others while in the water. During the week I try to fix everything that broke last weekend and one or two thing...

Re: wire shelves for closet????
That's a great idea! I hardly use that locker at all. They make a kit to cover the ends of the shelf, but I like the dipping and hinging ideas.

Re: Summer Cruising Plans
Sorry, I keep my boat in Quincy, just south of Boston. We would cruise up the coast stopping at islands and marinas along the way. I belong to a yacht club and many allow members of other clubs to use their facilities. Cruising for me is 20 knots. The trip would take 2 - 3 hours if we didn't stop fo...

Re: Summer Cruising Plans
"Boy, there are a lot of rocks and big waves out here." :) The Annisquam river runs from Gloucester Harbor to Ipswich Bay. That is were we are planning to go on our trip. There is a couple of marinas, Cape Ann is the best one, on the river. We will also anchor or grab moorings along the w...

Re: Summer Cruising Plans
It's more of a trip than a cruise, but we have booked and paid for Fourth of July in Provincetown. Also planning a cruise to Cape Ann in August.

Re: Vexing Boat Leveler Problem
If you call Boat Leveler and explain what's going on I'm sure they can help. When I was having problems last spring I spoke with them to diagnose the problem. They then recommended a list of solutions. Their customer service was unreal. The person who assisted me even drove my package to the fedex o...

I bought some parts from them last spring. They were very helpful. Here is their website. Give them a call.

Re: no oil pressure
Mike thanks for clearing that up for me. Could it still be a loose/broken pick up tube in the oil pan?

Re: no oil pressure
I am confused. Are 440 oil pumps external mounted? Is the engine out of the boat? Is the pump your referring to mounted in the oil pan? The lines that go to the oil cooler usually come off the engine near the engine mounted oil filter fittings.
