Re: general question about engine sync
I've always sync'd by ear. I had a neon strobe sync on a couple of boats, but honestly they drive me nuts. If you keep your engines in sync (by some gadget or by ear, and you have a different fuel burn rate between engines on a long haul, something is off. Check the easy stuff first like plugs, wire...

Re: Loss of power
A couple of years back, I had this problem after the engines had come up to temp after an hr of cruising. The port side engine would just not get past about 2500 RPM, the other one fine. It ended up being a fuel pump. It was not leaking (pumping anything through the bypass line) but I had tried ever...

Re: Original Props?
As usual, Paul is spot on. Our 1973 Sportfish has GM 454s with 1.91:1 gears turning a set of 3 blade 20 x 20 props. (I have a set of 20 x 19 4 blade props that I've never tired). In the spring, when the bottom is perfectly clean, and I have not loaded her up with tons of gear, water, and fuel, at 40...

Re: crusader 454 fuel pump
Yes, Napa can order them for you. Source a lot of marine parts from Napa. If you call most shops by 9AM, they will have them shipped from the warehouse to them by 4PM or so, and if not, they come the next morning. That said, I have also converted boats to the electric fuel pumps. They make a marine ...

Re: Vacuflush location on an F36
Ours is a 73 F36. When I bought her, the vacuflush was installed under the starboard side of the front berth. A 15 gallon tank was installed under the berth in the exact center. So, there was a VERY long 1.5" hose that left the head and looped all the way around the bow and back to the pump and...

Re: Need Help With Battery Wiring.
I would consider adding a neg cable from each battery to the neg bus bar that is equal in guage to the pos cable that leaves that same battery. In you diagram, current from all three batteries will flow out a single cable to the load and you run the risk of over-loading that single cable.

Re: Fuel senders
Jealous of the new gauges. We had a Chris Craft Catalina before the Trojan with a teak stick gas gauge. You know, it was very accurate. Thankfully the gauges on our F36 work as you could not get a stick around the two bends in the fuel inlet line. Paul, on our F36, you have to take out the side cabi...

Re: Dockage Fees
Our F36 is slipped for 5 mo in the summer on the Mississippi in RedWing MN at a city owned marina. Its $1750 for the summer including all the water and elec I can consume. The winter layup is $800 in a city storage lot where it sits from mid Oct to mid May. We can do all our own work on the dock or ...

Re: Making Teak Swim Platform Not Slippery
Interlux makes a non-skid surface that you "sprinkle on" just after applying your last topcoat and while its still VERY wet. You dust it on with an old fashioned flour sifter. The material is actually tiny little rubber shapes that look like footballs. They stick into the surface and provd...

Re: Question on Yellowed Light Covers In Cabin
First, check the Trojan Boat Store on this site. Then under Trojan Hardware. I think what you looking for is on the bottom of the first page. If not, then you can pick them up at just about any RV store. I've bought them from http://www.brambillasinc.com/

Our boat is slipped in Red Wing, MN on the Mississippi. This summer, we hope to make it down to Dubuque IA, about a 400 mi round trip. Depending on the price of gas, we may make it a little further...

Just replaced ours last year with and LED Attwood mast/anchor light. We anchor out many nights and I like the low current draw and much brighter light of the LED.

Re: What color to paint your boat ?
What I meant to say about the "bubbles" is that if you prep right, and the primer was sanded and wiped with 333, and you apply paint with the roller BEFORE the 333 drys like you are suppose to, you will get bubbles. Just as the bubbles begin to form, you wipe them off with the horse hair b...

Re: What color to paint your boat ?
Our topsides are Brightside Bluglow White, the hull is Flag Blue. That's my choice, with buff tan nonskid, how old is your paint and how's it holding up? Alexander38. Well, I've done two boats with Brightside. Its a good paint and its easy and forgiving to apply. As everyone will tell you its all i...

Re: matching teak plywood f36
I've ordered the teak plywood from here before http://www.buckwoodcraft.com/teak-veneer-plywood/teak-plywood-by-the-half-and-full-sheet-1-8-to-3-4-thick.html They boxed and shipped to any address with a dock. I think the last I bought was 4+ yrs ago and it was not cheap, but a perfect match to the t...
