Re: List of questions on new (for me) F36 1976 on first weekend out

this might be getting of topic but is there any different between Mallory and Sierra parts where this is concerned Mallory is cheaper but only by 5 bucks.

Also if I'm going to do 1 is it better to do them both on the same engine?

The newish looking one is on the other engine.

Agreed,

is there a place that still sells new risers ? One of the risers does look new but not the one that is corroded.

Re: List of questions on new (for me) F36 1976 on first weekend out

Hi, @oil&water: i checked the leak with a mechanic on the weekend while running and it looks like the water is coming from the drain plugs on the bottom of the riser. he mentioned the threads corrode over time, I will remove them and put teflon tape and plumbers dope on the plugs and retest. If ...

Re: Trojan f36 tri-cabin survey lower back deck issues

Hi guys, I took the covers of and around the rear deck on the weekend. Unfortunately i did not get any pics as my cell had died. Basically above the rear deck and around the scuppers things look good. However there is decay (the deck can be crushed by hand) on the rear facing edge and support of the...

Re: List of questions on new (for me) F36 1976 on first weekend out

Juat another note, I have read that the transmission noise may be due to a failed cylinder and the port engine does not idle as smoothly as the starboard, i will try to do a tune up on the port engine or both this weekend. Also the port engine water temperature is not working i figure its the sensor...

Re: Depth and 360 degree imaging below surface F36 tricabin

Garmin does not have a transducer that is through hull and that is also capable of 3D.

I have not tried mine from inside the hull and it would have to be facing forward. It's a good point though i might see if i can put it in a bag of water up in the front and see if i get anything out of it at all.

List of questions on new (for me) F36 1976 on first weekend out

HI, Here's a list of things I have found on a boat I bought last October. It is now back in the water and I have some questions. I have to sail the boat back to my local area (approx. 400 miles of lakes, rivers and locks) in two weeks. I need to figure out what I need to do and what can wait until I...

Re: Depth and 360 degree imaging below surface F36 tricabin

I should add, that i explained the process for the gel coat prep and anti-fouling removal to the guys that distribute wet/dry 700 and they seemed to believe this would work but suggested i do a small test piece before i do the large 36" piece so i plan to use the cabled hooks for the test, appa...

Re: Depth and 360 degree imaging below surface F36 tricabin

@captainmaniac: I was planning on removing the anti-fouling prior to application of the plastic strip and epoxy using a dry wall sanding sponge (they do very well when wet and can sand evenly on pretty flat surfaces), On dry land at least they remove anti fouling well. Of course in the water might b...
