Re: F32 rough sketch (pic)

Here it is in the place it was intended for. It looks high here, but I wanted to see it from the salon.
I ended up making a mahogany frame to fit the boats look.
Now to keep the sun off of it...

Re: Refinished head. Pics

Briand, I used rustoleum semi gloss spray paint. I first wiped down the walls with acetone to degrease. It seems to adhere pretty well. Time in the hot sun will tell. I know there are vinyl paints that act as a primer allowing you to paint over with whatever color you want. VHT and Rustoleum are two...

Re: Refinished head. Pics

Revised the lighting a bit. They're halogen but I want to swap them out to LED.
Almost done.

Re: Refinished head. Pics

Thanks for the compliments.
Yes these old boats used wood liberally. And high quality. 35 years of abuse and no cracking or peeling. Just a strip and recoat and voila. When I bought the boat I had planned on gutting and updating, but the layout and quality would have made that an unwise choice.

Re: Refinished head. Pics

I'm sure I'll catch some flack for this for not using "marine" products. But I used Minnwax Helmsman. After reading quite a few threads on the subject I came to the conclusion that there are superior products out there but they're generally 2-3 times the price, and not as readily available...

Re: A few other projects. Pics

A couple more projects. New Bow pulpit. Again with white oak. Planning on putting an anchor roller in it this summer. Get the anchor off the deck. Also a windless eventually. http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn284/BlueScorpion07/image_zps79238dee.jpg Refinished the fly bridge captains chairs. Beli...

Re: Refinished head. Pics

Rustoleum semi gloss white spray paint. I used acetone to get all the oils and soaps off first. Anticipating a long life with it.

A few other projects. Pics

The searchlight and mount were toast when I bought the boat. The searchlight worked but didn't turn. Took it apart and worked on the clutches and it's as it should be. It was also a rusted mess. Sanded it down, primed and painted it, and it looks like new. For the mount I used white oak, shaped it, ...

Re: F32 rough sketch (pic)

Hey everyone, thanks for the kudos and input.
I'm still waiting for some info from the moderators before I commit to anything. Don't want to step on any toes here.
This is a great source for our old girls and I appreciate being a part of it.

Re: F32 rough sketch (pic)

Ok guys. I sent Don a text to see about the forum rules and advertising. So once I get that info I'll put together a pricing structure and we'll see if this is something we all want to do. I'm not looking to retire on it, but I also don't want to do it for nothing. I'll let you know as soon as I hea...

Re: F32 rough sketch (pic)

Thanks everyone! I do like the way it turned out but I really can't wait to cover the dark spot on the wall. It's really buggin me. I just refinished all the wood on the interior and I couldn't even out that spot. Anyway if there's a real interest in this maybe we could work something out? I don't k...

Re: F32 rough sketch (pic)

Below the side glass there's a fiberglass kick-up on the actual boat. The pic shows it flush with the deck.
Thanks.
