Re: New Lithium House Bank
Another update. Unplugged from AC power at 6 pm on May 15 and ran Norcold AC/DC fridge, stereo, LED cabin lights, anchor light and VHF overnight for a “typical” power consumption at anchor. Turned off cabin lights, stereo, and VHF around 11pm. Norcold cycled on and off during the night (4 amp draw) ...

New Lithium House Bank
Well, I’m back with an update on my install of the following on our 77 Trojan F26 Hardtop, and I’m pleased with the result so far: House Bank - 2 Battle Born LiFEPO4 100AH batteries wired in parallel an connected to a new Blue Seas 1-2-All-Off battery switch - 2 170W rigid frame solar panels fitted ...

Re: Tracing Leaks
I had a bad leak coming in to the port side of the interior wall in the v-berth area. I thought it was from the side window in the main cabin, but it was coming in from the ss hand rail that runs over both sides of the cabin top. No caulk under those fittings. Backed out the machine screws just enou...

Re: F25 Renovation Inside & Out
Good for you! You’re bringing this sweet old girl back to life. Like you, we bought our 1977 F26 HT in 1999 and have spent the past 22 years loving every bit of her. I keep up with the mechanicals and electricals as well as the structurals as best as I can but these old Trojans were built to last.

Re: 1978 F30
I have a ‘77 F26 with single Chrysler 318, and the hull is solid FG and the deck is FG over balsa core. I’ve repaired a few soft spots over the years on the deck (mostly in bow area where the original anchor chocks were located (and not caulked under the mounts.....) that hull is bullet proof, howev...

Re: Lithium House Bank Batteries
OK, I’m back again, with yet another thought about my wonderful lithium battery bank and its ability (or not)to act as a back up to start the engine. I’ll have a new 100AH 850CCA lead acid battery for the engine, but was thinking my lithium bank would not have enough surge to do the same thing, in t...

What the _______??????
Oh well, everyone needs a dream. Mine’s putting lithium batteries in the house bank and solar panels on the hardtop.
Just trying to imagine the size of the power bank needed to run the 750F pizza oven alone.
Oh, my head!!

Re: Lithium House Bank Batteries
I just got an email from Blue Sea telling me their ACRs are not suitable for LiFePO4 batteries because the set points for combine/isolate are not adjustable. I have an older model Blue Sea ACR, the 7600, which does allow me to set these voltages. BUT the 7600 is 12 years old, and although it may las...

Re: Lithium House Bank Batteries
Many of my components (solar controller, DC/DC charger, battery monitor, etc) are from Victron Energy and are”smart” in that they can be controlled with an android or iOS Bluetooth enabled device (phone, tablet or even laptop). They can be configured to turn on and turn off, based on preset algorith...
