Yeah, let's ditch the African-american president that we have and replace him with a Mexican-american*! Obviously the sarcasm was missed. The Republicans make a big deal out Obama's background, but Democrats have barely raised Mitt's background as an issue because it is not germaine to the topics a...

Yeah, let's ditch the African-american president that we have and replace him with a Mexican-american*! *Mitt Romney's great-grandfather emigrated to Mexico after the Mexican-American war so he could continue practicing polygamy. Mitt's dad was born in Mexico, and was therefore a mexican citizen by ...

The insurance company should be paying me BoatUS insurance covers 50% (up to $1K) to haul or prep a boat anytime there is a named storm. This being my first storm as a boat owner, I bought 40 ft long ratcheting cargo straps, 4 rolls of duct tape (Sorry Aaron -- no window leaks in MY tricabin), and ...

sinking feeling

At Sue Island (would you show me on a map sometime where the island of Sue Island is? Is someone just forward thinking?) they set a boat behind where yours was. You know, the place where all of the water from the building drains to? ON THE GRASS, with no plywood under the stands. They threatened to ...

DID YOU DO THAT BEAUTIFUL SHEETMETAL WORK? I went to a magnet high school and studied aircraft sheetmetal. Work like that is practically pornographic to me. I presume the future work includes sound-attenuating material on the inside? Did you replace the vibration dampers? The elastomer can harden ov...

nope just a bunch of bullies.. When I was a kid at camp, we were supposed to be having fun (like we are here). If two people weren't getting along, they'd be tied together with a rope. They'd eat, drink, crap, and bathe together until they got along, which didn't take very long. I often think of th...

An Allen wrench in a drill can be useful for this task.

Current bid is $51, and it doesn't say "RESERVE NOT MET." The fender hangers are worth that.

This is one of the 11 1981-1985 tricabs that I looked at before I bought Old Flame, which I entertained solely as a project because so many of the other boats that I looked at were in need of so much work that I was giving serious consideration to hauling this 40 miles overland to my house and parki...

It occured to me to email Crusader and ask where I could buy the manuals, since only late model years appeared to be available via downoad from their website. They asked me for my serial numbers, then sent me three pdfs, including a parts manual, and an operation and maintenance manual, for free.

Out of the bilge now. Underwater exhaust reassembly begins this weekend. Looking forward to getting acquainted with my engines, I looked for manuals. One thing that came-up when I searched was the following thread. It appears to be the place to which Jamie referred. http://www.boatered.com/forum/top...

Can I get by with one or go with two? Impossible to say. If I was doing it on my boat I might consider one at each corner of the seat. You have to not only raise and lower the seat, but guide it and make sure that it doesn't bind. The price of four of them is not even one boating dollar. I'd buy fo...

I had the false floor in the bilge cut out and ground smooth Do you have any idea how thick the thinnest part of the hollow keel is? On my '85 Tricab, the hull bottom is 5/8" thick solid fiberglass. One previous poster in a different thread showed his repair to the side of his keel. It was not...

Boy, with the lack of civility in this thread, I hate to make it rise from the dead. Regardless, the purpose of this forum is to provide for the mutual benefit of its members. To that end, I add the following here, in an appropriate thread where it can benefit future readers: While letting my fiberg...
