Re: Reviving an old topic

Well I'm happy to say we got over an inch of rain and no more roof leaks. So the effort of taking the gutter off, cleaning the aluminum gutter down to well, aluminum. Then epoxy repairing all the roof seam cracks with Thixo thickened epoxy then re bedding the gutter in 5200 paid off...

Re: Refitting a 1976 F-32 Journal

Vinylester is a cross breed between epoxy and polyester resin. Its still a polyester resin and has the same working attributes as polyester. Vinylester resin has better adhesion to wood versus polyester that's why I choose to use it. Its also a we bit stronger. Just an added benefit for just a few e...

Re: F32 Interior Wood Work

I have it on good authority that the factory used Watco Teak Oil to finish the wood work inside. I am staying with this because there is no chance of ever peeling due to the fact its a penetrating oil. Therefore you can just reapply as you see fit. The oil also will give you a nice shine if enough c...

Re: Refitting a 1976 F-32 Journal

Two layer of 1.5 oz CSM over the flat deck and three layers around the perimeter for extra strength. I gave the ply a good sanding with 80 grit, coated it with vinylester resin liberally. After that set up I laid on the fiberglass with more vinylester resin. At least I have all the wood protected we...

Re: Refitting a 1976 F-32 Journal

Thanks guys. I attached a picture of the nonskid after the final coat of gelcoat... Definitely need to leave the tape in place till the nonskid has been sealed with a top coat. My roller was still picking up some of the nonskid even though I vacuumed the surface before the final coat...

Re: Refitting a 1976 F-32 Journal

Here are pictures of the teak doors with new slam latches and also the hatch with non skid applied. The hatch just needs one final coat of gelcoat over the non skid and it will be finished.

Re: Refitting a 1976 F-32 Journal

Finishing the hatch at home, Working on new sliding doors, Installing new door slam latches, fixed the bottoms of the combing panels that have the electric outlets and pulled the gutter and epoxied the seam. Re: Reviving an old topic

I just removed the four pieces of gutter last weekend. And low and behold there were plenty of cracks. some large, some small. But I'm sure water was getting in from the cracks. So after a good sanding and acetone wash I filled the cracks with Thixoflex thickened epoxy. all that I still need to do i...

Re: Refitting a 1976 F-32 Journal

Its hard to see but I routered a gutter into the hatch frame. The hatch seam is right over the gutter so the water should find the path of least resistance and run out the gutter. The gutter empties out into the rear scupper trough you see in the pictures...

Re: Refitting a 1976 F-32 Journal

Finally got the floor down. But as I was driving the floor panels up to the boat it rained like crazy and the ply got all wet. So now I have to wait till the ply drys up real good before I can lay the fiberglass. But I have lots of other work to do while it drys out. New hatch fit perfect too.. I'm ...
