I agree with DB. Don't pressurize the tank. It can be done but unless you're a trained tech with the proper equipment, it's just not worth the gamble. Like DB, I'm also thinking it's one of your lines. Inspect the lines where they exit on the tank (vent line, fill line and lines going to engine and ...

I would be careful with just replacing what you remove for access. You need to maintain structural integrity. I'm assuming the stringer is glass over wood. If you have the room to cut out a minimum of an 8 to 1 scarf joint, you can reinstall the same piece. Use a good quality epoxy (West System) and...

I don't think there is a valve. Perhaps an F-36 owner can confirm. Every system that I've seen simply works off dockside when you attatch the hose (power down water pump). When you disconnect from dockside, power up the pump and draw from the tank. Most dockside water fittings have a built-in check ...

Auto vs Marine

I was reading a thread on another forum about the differences between auto and marine engines if any. It's almost like there's this thing going on between auto and marine mechanics. The entries were from a few years ago but an interesting read all the same. I liked your entry at the end Prowlersfish...

Carverman, are you still in the middle of the break-in period? If so, how many more hours to complete, and what kind of warranty did you get?

Never heard that before about 440s. It's okay to go slow but don't baby them too much. Make them work hard once in a while, it's good for them. Follow your break-in procedure carefully, check the oil level often during this time, and don't hold off changing the oil and filter at the first interval a...

Thanks for the reply. Anything in there about the marks? Set up the mark on the flywheel 2.5 degrees before the reference pointer (needs advance light), or is it at 2.5 degrees when the 2 marks meet? I suppose he can set the piston to TDC and see where the marks sit, just thought someone would know ...

318 Timing

This relates to a Chrysler 318 with electronic distributor and timing marks on the flywheel. There are no degree graduations, just a stationary reference pointer and two marks on the flywheel, one for LH and one for RH rotation. I'm posting this for a friend who is getting the gambit of how this sho...

WANTED: Maxwell Windlass Component

I'm looking for the topworks of a Maxwell Freedom 800 windlass. I have everything I need to put a system together except this component. Would appreciate any help in sourcing out. Have been told by suppliers and manufacturer that buying just the topworks would cost almost just as much as the full ki...

Wow, cutting it out seems kind of extreme. Fibreglass is very repairable. can a large access hole be cut in the top in hopes of finding the problem and fixing it from the inside?
