Gauges Reading Backwards

I just installed a set of new Faria gauges. According to the wiring diagram in my Trojan F26 manual, the yellow wire from the accessory harness is the ignition wire and the white wire from the accessory harness is the ground. I connected the gauges accordingly. My gauges are working, but in reverse....

What year is the F26? The 1971 and 1972 models had a V-drive while the later models had a direct drive. The exhaust, etc. you need will depend on the year.

An F26 weighs at least 6,000 lbs. Add on the weight of additional equipment and you will be well over 5,500 lbs.

Agree with above. Also, was your charger turned on? If so, turn all DC power off and check what the output voltage of the charger is. You should be able to do this at one of the batteries. I'll check the voltage at the VHF connection and see what it is. The battery charger turns on automatically wh...

Question About Shorepower

This is my first boat with shorepower. Today I turned the VHF radio on while the shorepower was on and the VHF fried. Needless to say I won't be turning any electronics on anymore unless the shorepower is turned off first. I thought the AC system would be isolated from the DC system. Is it normal to...

Any other behaviour stuff - like is engine exhaust showing more smoke than normal, or more steam than usual? Sounds that weren't there before? The more info the real experts on this forum have, the better they are likely to be able to diagnose your underlying problem. How much steam out of the engi...

Troubleshooting Gauges

Some of the gauges on my boat are not working. Is there a way to use a multi-meter to figure out if the gauge is broken or the gauge is not getting a signal from the sending unit? Thanks for any suggestions you can offer.

The seacock for the engine water intake on my boat has a fitting that can be used to hook it up to a garden hose. It's very handy for running the boat on the trailer. I also keep a short piece of garden hose onboard I can hook up to it to use as a crash valve. A Chrysler 318 is a great bilge pump!

I launched mine last Saturday. I'm still learning how to drive a single screw inboard. It only took me two attempts to get her docked, so it's not too bad. :o I'll have her out again tomorrow for some more practice. Hopefully it won't be too windy.

West Marine has the Pains Wessex MK8 SOLAS flare, which is much more expensive than the Pains Wessex Pinpoint USCG approved flare. I only need the Pinpoint flares for where I boat.

Pains Wessex Pinpoint Flares

I'm trying to find a vendor in the United States that sells Pains Wessex Pinpoint flares. The Pinpoint flares are much better than the "standard" Orion flares, but I can't seem to find anyplace that sells them. Anybody know of a vendor that carries them?

You are correct in that I take them out during layup in the Fall and put them back in during fitting out in the Spring. I thought about leaving them in the boat over the Winter, but feel much more comfortable bringing them home to a warm (50 degrees) garage where I can put them on the smart charger ...

AGM Batteries

In order to put my batteries in and take them out, I have to turn them on their side to slide them under the port exhaust. I'm thinking of purchasing AGM batteries so I don't have to worry about spilling battery acid when I install/remove them. Does anyone have any experience with AGM batteries?

My F26 with a single Chrysler 225 (318) has twin exhaust, with one exhaust per exhaust manifold. There is no cross-over tube to equalize the pressure between the two. The engine runs very well with this setup.
