Re: Work....work.... And more work!

Our time here is now 17:20 GMT. It is late in the afternoon, and outside the workshop it is pitch black. And cold. Water has for long gone to ice, the fjord is nearly frozen stiff, and the snow has started to fall...... This could be the start of a novel or maybe a crime story. But no, it is the rea...

Re: Work....work.... And more work!

He asked for 35K € each, or 60K for both, plus freight just around 1200 €. My wife think I am silly...... She said this is the "first warning", or a kind of yellow card. As you know; after two yellows there follows a red...... Game over!

Re: Work....work.... And more work!

Thanks RWS! Was down in boat this afternoon, and yes: I will replace the bulkhead. Do you think it´s possible to use aluminium instead wood? Or maybe fiberglass..... Anyway the wood was partly soaky and rotten. There was a guy who called in today. He told me about a pair of Maserati engines. Some re...

Re: Work....work.... And more work!

More updates are to come! And the second week in January I will take a look at a pair of Ferretti Marine engines from Italy. 425Hp@3200 Rpm. Gearbox is BW with hydraulic shift and 1.1:1 ratio. And I have ordered new props, new 5 blades from Italy. I think the Trojan will transform into a seamonster....

Re: Work....work.... And more work!

Good Folks! It is time for a minor update. The old lady is now well parked in the workshop. We have started the blasting of the bottom, to remove old antifouling, paint and stuff. I have found some minor damages that we have to redo, totally 2 sq.feet in the bottom. We have also started removing all...

Re: Work....work.... And more work!

We´ve got a lot of Yanmars over here. But they are too expencive, at least for me to afford. I guess we can hav two Volvos for one Yanmar, at the same power. Spares for Yanmar are also quite expencive. The "cheapest" (not the worst!!) seems to be Volvos and the English build Ford Sabre eng...

Re: Work....work.... And more work!

You see Volvo spares are cheap in Europe. And there is a lot of workshops and servicestations around. Yes, Hino is a good brand, in Asia. Not in Europe. But on top of my wishing list is a pair of Ford Sabre 320. To your question about speed: Cruise 18 - 22 knots, top end 30 knots.

Re: Work....work.... And more work!

I am not sure, but I think it will end up with a pair of Volvo´s in the belly. Not the newer computer controlled, but a pair of old fashioned 41 or maybe something in 60 series. But I have to admit; There was a guy who called me one evening. He had a couple og Hino´s 310Hp with gears. Reasonable pri...

Re: Work....work.... And more work!

No, it´s not the proper way. It was a couple of boys from marina who done that work. But it is good enough, it´s only to bring the boat indoor to the repair hall. There it will be put on a hoist for lifting it above the floor in a way to sandblast the bottom. In other words; It is a temporarly stand.
