Re: fuel tank replacement 1978 tri cabin

I have a 73 Tri cabin. i had a process called Renu done on my port tank 5 years ago. Just google renu fuel tank repair. I plan to have the starboard tank done next winter. I'm sure there may be other solutions, that's the way I went since it was a reasonable price to get it done and I figured I didn...

Re: oil leak

Great points.. To be honest I haven't done much of an inspection yet. The oil is dripping off the bottom of the oil pan and I can see that the front of the engine is dry. At first I thought the oil pan had a rust hole or the drain plug was leaking. I'll check it out more thuroughly the next time I'm...

Re: oil leak

Must be an oil leak epidemic. I cleaned and painted my bilge last winter and had no leaks until she was on the hard. I think the rear main seal on the port engine is leaking (velvet drive end). Has anyone ever had any success with engine additives to soften seals ? I am really reluctant to try that ...

Re: Onan impeller

Well I bought an impeller off Amazon thinking I was buying a replacement and I received what looks like the Globe dry impeller. It has the plastic drive and it's blue. I think since the impeller is so much smaller than a marine engine impeller, the drive pin sees a lot less tongue and hopefully migh...

Re: Onan impeller

Thanks guys, I'll check out the Trojan store. My pump bearings and seal seem to be good. I'd like to replace thee seal eventually if I can locate a seal kit for a reasonable price. We'll see.

Thanks again.

Onan impeller

I'm looking for a replacement impeller for my MCCK Onan 6.5 gen. I see on Amazon.com there's an impeller called a dry run impeller by Globe Marine model 1014. The site says it's a direct replacement for the 131 0160 impeller, but improved to withstand running dry and only $33 bucks. Anyone out there...

Re: Tri-cabin salon and aft cabin wall panel coverings

I have a 73 tri cabin and I agree with all the comments except I found I was able to peel off the covering on the sliding cupboard doors in the solan. The wood panels underneath look pretty good, so we left them natural.

Re: Query to Aaron re v-drives

I also have a 73 Tri cabin with Walters v drives. A few years ago I had water in my v drive oil, so I had to pull the cover on the drive and repair the problem. There is non pump. Water flows from the movement of the hull. I recall a copper tube bent like an s in the water reservoir that the oil pas...

Re: North Channel

Oh boy, lots of info to look at. I thank you both. I figured I can get A Sunday to Sunday off, but unfortunately not much more. Thanks for the invite ready123, but Georgian Bay is a little too far at least for this first big trip. I have lot's of info to go thru now and will let you know my travel p...

North Channel

Over the last 4 years I have asked the forum for help on all kinds of technical items and it has been the best source of information ever for my 73 36 ft Tri cabin. You guys have helped me solve issues from deck epoxy to holding tank removal/replacement - thank you. The last item I was working on wa...

Re: MCCK Generator

Interesting about the auto start. I'm looking at the manual now and the water line connected to the 1" elbow out of the exhaust manifold must be the water injection you mention. The 1/4 inch plug I am referring to is on the top of the exhaust manifold. If you are looking down on the gen from th...

Re: MCCK Generator

Thanks guys, It is gas not diesel and it has a timer that automatically runs the blower for almost 10 minutes. It's pretty cool. After the blower runs for 10 the blower shuts off and the gen automatically starts. The first time we tried it we were surprised, when after 10 everything got quiet with t...

Re: MCCK Generator

I put the pump and carb back on with a new fuel filter on line and tried it. It actually started and purred like a kitten. Runs real quiet. I tried some lights and even turned on the Princess oven. The generator doesn't strain at all to run even the oven. It didn't immediately pump water, but it cam...
