Re: Changing toilet system from vaccuflush???

Big D, is "several $K" you quoted to fix mean several thousand dollars?? We would need to get the existing toilet out some how to replace the seals, and buy new vac chamber and pump system since I can't rebuild same. Understand thousands of dollars. Right now it is porta potty time. I am l...

Racor 900 versus spin on spin off filters

New boat to us. Trojan 10 meter. Cummins 970 CPL, 300 hp engines with some updates. Changing all the filters etc. Noted Racor 900s had water in them. One 300 gal. Tank. One filler station. Don't like messing with the Racors. Changed from them on previous boat with the SMX double doubles and squeeze ...

Re: Changing toilet system from vaccuflush???

Appreciate the link to the previous post, reference vaccuflush replacement. Noted the title, and a lack of replacement suggestions, other than I should fix and keep. After noting all of the issue with that system as indicated by the various posts I became more convinced that all things considered, f...

Re: Changing toilet system from vaccuflush???

Appreciate the one toilet suggestion. Raritan seems to be suggested frequently by other forums as well, so will do further search on them. Update, Not going to cut the toilet our. Seals in the toilet bad, won't hold water. Did remove the pump which was in bad shape. Vacuum chamber in bad shape also....

Re: Changing toilet system from vaccuflush???

Come on, I'm asking for the latest and best information on other marine toilets, looking for up to date information on the best ones under $500.00 since I am not going to go with vacu-flush. I have one or two suggesions. Other forums are helpfull and I know this one has some good info to offer as we...

Re: Changing toilet system from vaccuflush???

That toilet was standard for that boat and year, so there probably isn't any other marine toilet that would drop in, so will replace it, but not with vacu-flush. Will remove caulking around seat area and see if I can lift it out to see hook ups for water etc. Than the decision to be made is to cut i...

Re: Changing toilet system from vaccuflush???

Did they sell this boat with a standard marine flush type toilet and made the vacu-flush an upgrade, as done on some other boats???. I note there is caulking around the toilet rim just below the area of the seat. Can you lift out the toilet? Is that how you rebuild the seals there? Got the vacu-flus...

Re: Changing toilet system from vaccuflush???

My questions was, has anyone changed it out. Didn't find any "facts" as to how it was done from some one on changing it out. Sorry if I offended someone. If the facts are there would appreciate a reference link to someone that did the task. Thanks I don't plan on cutting the other one out....

Changing toilet system from vaccuflush???

Has anyone converted to a standard marine toilet system from the vacuflush system. Boat is 1986 Trojan 10 meter express. Apparently the system hasn't worked for years. Boat was used just for tournament fishing. Rather than try to figure out the system and rebuild it all will convert to a more standa...

Re: 10 meter people load limit?

RWS, thanks. Points well made. Our off shore trips will be for fishing and probably only 6 people or so. It is 23 miles down river and across the bay to get out into the gulf. And than only if 2 foot seas or less. With this boat might stay out if sea kicks up to 3 feet. Time will tell on that. In th...

Re: 10 meter people load limit?

RWS, is yours the express? What is your experience with a load of people, however many that may have been. And what were the sea conditions with that load? I know that can be a big factor as well as the load. Apparently there aren't any other 10 meter express owners on the forum that are willing to ...

Re: 10 meter people load limit?

Head is high priority, since wife and daughter are gung ho about fishing, but they are willing to use bucket if all else fails. Haven't figured out switch popping off. If the motor pumps vacuum but doesn't come on than suspect the motor itself is defective. I assume the head switch engages the motor...

Re: 10 meter people load limit?

Haven't got the vacu flush working yet, but agree, lots of buckets, or something working. As to crew experience, I have had 5 boats over the last 15 years, the larger ones being a 31 foot Chris Craft and a 34 foot Californian. My son-in-law grew up on the water and has had boats all his life, workin...

Re: 10 meter people load limit?

Appreciate the answers. I should be OK. Probably no more than 8 to 10, family, off Pensacola in the Gulf for fishing. We don't usually go if more than 2 feet but with this boat might try 3 feet. For the Blue Angels, Fireworks display, Christmas Parade, and Bands on the Blackwater will have 20 or so ...
