Re: Trojan 44 motor yacht information

I have a 74 F-44. I contacted Brenda at boatingwithdawsons.com and she sent me original floor layouts and price sheet for my model. I will try and locate and post on here.

prop shaft coupler set screws

Does anyone know where I can get the set screws that hold the prop shaft in the coupler? They are a square head with little hole drilled in the head for safety wire.

Re: 1974 F-44 repower question

Do modern 8.1's reverse rotation in the transmissions, unlike my old reverse rotation 440 block? After a little reading on "re-power" posts on the site, do you think the 8.1 is the way to go, or is it going to be hard to get parts/ support in the future?

1974 F-44 repower question

Starting to contemplate new power and just a few questions. I have 440's with velvet drives. Want new gas engines possibly 8.1's. Will I need new transmissions or can I use the velvet drives? They're rebuilt with about 100 hours. Should I entertain fuel injection or is that a major ordeal? Or is jus...

Re: Brushed on some varnish this weekend

I use Captains Varnish by Z Spar. Get it at West Marine. As can be expected, it's like an ice rink when it's wet. When we are out and kids get in and out of the water we put down a lot of towels to get some traction. When the girls bitch about how slick it is, I tell them it's like high heels for wo...

F44 Cruisair not pumping water

The circulating pump for the three units is not pumping water when I turn on the a/c. I pulled the pump and tested it out of the boat with 110 at home and it worked fine. Re- installed and still no action. The breaker now is tripping for a/c. If the units are low on charge, would this create all the...

I think its on Craigslist for St. Louis or Lake of the Ozarks. We keep it for sale at a decent price just in case someones interested. The boat is very reliable, we took it out for 9 hours on Saturday. Just go about 10 mph and stop at restaurants all day. I think its listed for 59,000

i know the boat. We looked at it before buying our 1974 44'. (fiberglass)It will not make it through a lift. It was very tempting when we looked at it 5 years ago, but the thought of attempting to lift it and it falling apart drove me away. Ours is one that you have seen for sale. Not trying to sell...

I have the same boat 1974 44', my shaft came out 2 weeks ago when going into reverse. When I went to reinstall the 2 set screws I noticed the holes don't line up with the shaft so I put 1 back in. How difficult is drilling a stainless shaft for the 2nd bolt?

I have a 1974 Trojan 44. The water tank is about 12" deep and takes up most of the inside of the transom. From the deck down it is as wide as the boat on top and narrows down to the bottom.
