thanks, but I don't think I have a mold problem....

This is exactly what the smell is and what the Tiara guy described as well. I have bleached every surface but I suppose I could try it again. I will try bleaching the other hatch, I just finished the other one with the BIN primer, the small area I did seemed promising. Either way, I might have to re...

did you remove the distributor to install?

If so, could be what I did when I changed my intake manifold gasket. The distributor was not oriented correctly (it was off 180 degrees). It would turn over fine and sound like it wanted to catch but wouldn't start. The rotor needs to be pointing towards the #1 cylinder. Use the "engine disturb...

no smiles here.....

this is a very unpleasant odor, you couldn't sleep on the boat with it all closed up.

I'm not expecting it to smell like my house (odorless) but this is definately more than a regular boat smell, which I like as well.

marine plywood odor - anyone else have it?

I've been chasing an odor on my mid cabin since I bought it last year. I noticed it in varying degrees on other mid cabins I looked at as well. I changed all of the sanitation hoses/vent line, scrubbed the bilges, used an ozone machine for a day, etc., etc. Basically, I've been doing "something...

do you guys have Hynautic units?

I just rebuilt my H50 last week, kit is available at Boatfix for about $35 delivered.

Scott Gardner did a write-up on BoaterEd if you need it.

If you have H50's I'll chime in w/more detail.

the '86 mid cabin I was looking at in CT had wet stringers..

sound of a mallet and hammer confirmed the findings by a surveyor. The '88 that I wound up buying (along with the '86) look just like your pic.

Paul - with (6 ) T105's what can you run and for how long?

I'll be entering into my 1st season with house batteries and trying to figure out what some real life experience has been on the hook. I have two small 12v refrigerators which I would love to get a weekend out of (or at least one). I'm looking into an inverter option as well to possibly get some qui...

wowzer, what kind of light is that? That might do the trick.

I don't need to come out as far but that idea would keep it centered and higher than the dome.

My other option is to epoxy the short Perko light to the top of the dome. I just talked to a guy at Ray Marine and he said that we be just fine (disclaimer if I botch it up).

I didn't explain it very well....

yes, I'm happy to contact Bob, have bought stuff from Beacon before. BUT, the reason I asked about a parts boat (in addition to some odds/ends) is that the horizontal bow railing is bent inward. Previous owner hit something. So, I either need to replace it with another one or try and get it repaired...

long shot... anyone know of a mid cabin parts boat?

My bow railing is bent on the starboard side along with two of the stanchion supports. I could probably replace those but not sure what my options are for the railing itself.

If I could get another one reasonable priced I would do that since I need to re-bed everything anyway.

ok, the mystery is finally solved

I pulled down the radar arch access panel and sure enough, there was the red wire not connected to anything. With the switch off there was no voltage. When I moved the switch back to "Anchor", I had 12v. So, I think all I need to do is install a new light and connect BOTH the white and gre...

wow, that's interesting, no wonder I can't figure it out.

Funny, I had pretty much thrown in the towel and was going to install another light up there for this purpose. I actually bought another short Perko but it has to be a tall mast so you can see it above the radar dome. That explains why there's only one wire run up to the windshield. Do you believe t...

Nav lights - any mid cabin (might be model specific) experts

Much like removing my wiper motors, this seemingly simple task of getting the Nav/Anchor lights to work has turned into a saga. I had some help today and did some more troubleshooting. No way, no how could we get them working the right way. The 1st mystery is why there's only one wire running throug...

Trojan, thanks..... good info

Koviak, yes I have the radar arch but no lights up top (mine's an '88). I know they changed the layout in '89 so maybe they moved the light. I only have the radar dome and other antennas on the arch, no lights. That would be a good place for one. I'm going to look around at pics of other '88's and s...

no, I haven't done that but both bulbs are working....

so I would expect the voltage to be ok. I can get the forward light to come on with the switch in one direction and BOTH to come on with the switch in the other direction. My problem is when both lights are on, the nav lights stay on too. It's the opposite of the way I need it to work and switching ...
