Re: Moving from Fresh to Salt
I can understand your running radius issues. I also have a 258 Mako with twin thursty 175s. I would fish out of Destin and run out to about 80 miles in surch of the elusive yellow fin. I also fished out of Venice La and had to run about an hour down the river. The Mako has a 150 gal tank and is prob...

Re: Moving from Fresh to Salt
Depending on where you are on the gulf there are many different types of fishing. From chasing Cobia on the beach in March to bottom bumping for snapper and grouper or trolling for kings or sail or dolphin or wahoo. A F32 should be able to fish for most things, however if you are planning to take 20...

Re: Moving from Fresh to Salt
The one on the stern needs to be zinc. aluminum is used in fresh water, zinc is for salt water. The basic flush kit is to introduce fresh water instead of salt water. this can be accomplished by installing a T fitting in the line and closint the sea cock. Just remember to open the sea cock before le...

Re: Moving from Fresh to Salt
There is one schoold of thought that says that you cannot have too many zincs. I have mine in the gulf and at the moment I have a large one on the stern and one on each shaft. Make sure that your grounding system is in good shape and that all through hulls are properly grounded. As to Fresh water co...

Re: larger fridge in f36 tri fly
Getting the old one out is not the problem. all you need is a sawzall or other really distructive saw. Getting the new one is the problem. You might look at remote refridgeration which used a split system like the AC. Other than that you might look for 2 smaller units or something that will go down ...

Re: MCCK gen spark plugs
You just unscrew the plug wire. That type of wire and plug is used on aircraft engines. If there is some rust you may want to use some PB Blaster or other type of rust pentrenate

Re: Port engine won't stay running
Try checking the ballest resistor. You should have about 8 volts when in the run position at the coil and about 12 volts while cranking. It could also be the ignition/start switch.

Re: Crazy Idea...
Have you considered relocating to Fl for 7 months when the water is solid. That would give you more time to enjoy southern boating. They your friends would no think you were totally crazy. I think its a good idea if you have pleny of money to burn, because as we all know that the longer a boat is no...

Re: reversing prop direction with trans/gears
The pump change is for the direction of rotation of the engine. Changing the front pump will not make the transmission rotate in the opposite direction. Basically you can put the same transmission on different rotation engines and when you put it in forward the prop will rotate in the direction of t...

Re: Tri cabin purchase advice
I have a 81 with the single burth in the aft cabin and the engines are fresh water cooled. I have good access with the hatches off but for engine replacement you have to either remove the hatch in the salon or disassemble the engine and take it out a piece at a time
