The seals on both helms are leaking, then yesterday the ram started to leak at the shaft. It is time to replace the system as it has never been reliable.

Syten steering finally died!

My old Syten steering system finally quit working on the weekend. It has a number of leaks and has been really a pain to keep working through the years. I have a 1978 F32 dual helm boat with Merc 228 engines. Anyone replace their steering system and what did you use? I have done some research on the...

Thats when you close the curtains on the fly bridge and run it from up top  My next boat will only have 1 helm I'd close the curtains if I had them. Just an open bimini on mine. I've used the lower helm a lot on long open water crossings in cold weather. I love the option of getting out of th...

I've used my wipers a tonne! In the F32 if you are running in any sizable chop with a cross wind the spray tends to land on your windshield. I boat on the great lakes and on many days that spray will hit you on the flybridge that's when the lower helm is used with the radar on and wipers flying!

I have a 78 Trojan F32 also with the Syten steering system. I have been nursing it for about 4 seasons now hoping it won't quit or a seal breaks. I have done a pretty hard look for parts and have also come up with nothing. I'd be interested in options other than spending a few grand!

Our F32 is named "Ruff In It" after my golden retriever that loves to stand in the cockpit and watch the world go by.

Wow, It is really interesting the speed difference in the F32's with different props, engines and higher time blocks. I didn't mention, the speeds I reported above were on 305's 50 hours after a total rebuild.

Just after I got my F32, I played with this exact topic. I to am a commercial pilot, what difference does that make you ask? We are trained to notice and think about very small adjustments that create large reactions. On my F32, when I initally go on plain, I need full nose down trim tabs to push th...

I don't think there is anything to worry about. My F32 flexes around the rear windows and doors. It creeks abit when it rolls in the waves. I have never had any of the rubber or doors pop out though.

Not to make light of your gas prices in the US, in Ontario, Canada we have been paying $1.25/l or about $4.75/ usgal the past few months at the pump. I heard the marina is going to be $1.39/l or $5.28/usgal. That is a increase of about $0.35 over last year!! My F32 is approching almost $700 to fill ...
