Just an FYI, the seacock should already be open if it was winterized properly. Never leave any seacock closed over the winter. Any water in a line hooked up to a seacock that makes its way back down will split it when it freezes.

You definitely have to go with what works for you. This is what works for me: 1 dedicated port engine battery, 1 dedicated starboard engine battery and 1 house bank all charged by a 3 bank 40 amp smart charger. Engine batteries run their respective engines and their gauges but are completely isolate...

If you have an older style ferroresonant transformer type charger, you shouldn’t leave it on during the week while away from your new batteries. They’re great at bringing a low battery back up to par but their physical characteristics make them poor at maintaining a proper float voltage usually ...

Try http://www.carbrebuilders.com/ in Toronto around Lawrence and Caledonia for the carb. I'm sure Crates can do what you need but the usual issue there is the time it takes to get to you. You can try Keswick Marine across the river from them or some of the marinas on the other side of the bay.

I suspect that by "hose" you are talking about the dockside water inlet, and that it leaks through the fitting when you remove the hose and pressurize the system with your fresh water pump. There is usually a check valve built into the dockside water fitting, although there are some applic...

Could also be a bad anti-siphon valve also. It's the fitting at the top of the tank that the fuel line attaches to. If you can, remove it temporarily, hook up the fuel line again and run the engine. If the problem persists, it's most likely the pick-up in the tank (providing everything else from the...

If you're sure you've bled the system thoroughly, it sounds like you may have a shuttle valve in one of the helms that's sticking. Don't know the kind of units you have but I believe that in general they are not that difficult to get at and dismantle the valve for a cleaning. Debris in the system is...

A really sad story. I`m sure he was wrestling with some real demons in his mind and everybody has a breaking point but I can`t stop thinking that he should be here for his kids. Things just got a lot worse for them than an oil spill. Hope he`s in a better place.
