I know I can get a lower profile arrestor for my 440`s. Don`t know about your Fords. It`s a more expensive way to go though unless you have junkers in your area you can scavenge for lower ones.

I agree with g36, you should be able to get the temp down if the unit is working properly, and then you wouldn`t need the dehumidifier. As mentioned, there are several things you can check yourself before calling in a technician. Dust, hair, dirt etc. is a big one. Also make sure you`re getting prop...

Michael, sounds like you`ve checked the obvious. I went through the same thing on a friend`s 318`s. New T-stats solved the problem; no more steam.

Is the oil in the bilge a new thing, or has it been there a long time? When I first got my vessel, I hauled out the genny and holding tank to get better access to a section of bilge that I couldn't get under to clean. When I started, there were years of oil, grease, leaves, you name it down there. I...

Capt Mike, sorry, I should have mentioned that the readings I suggested you take are at the motor not the solenoid pack. If you don't get 12 volts at the motor while someone activates a switch and you are hearing clicking, it's the solenoid box. as the clicking indicates your switch is ok. If you do...

To narrow down where the leak is, vacuum the bilge as dry as you can. Then try to isolate as many areas in the bilge from one another as you can by shoving rags in stringer drain holes and creating separate compartments along the bilge where there are long runs with no obstructions etc. What ever yo...

Igniter? Did they say what the igniter was or what it does? That's new to me, so curious to know what it is.

Thanks for the info Rick. I suspect then that I'm OK. My sheets have a black surface and brown core. They are more like the large droped ceiling panels in composition. I don't even know how fire retardent they are. May take a piece and try it one day.

If the solenoid pack/box is in the rode locker, they have a tendancy to fail prematurely. If you're handy with a meter, check to see if there is 12 volts at either of the positive leads to ground while someone activates the switch. If there isn't, it's the solenoid pack.

If the pump is cycling every hour, you have a leak after the pump, not before like from the tank. As mentioned, the hot water tank is a good suspect, but could be anywhere after the pump. If you have a dockside connection, check it as well, could be a faulty check valve.

My vessel is a little older so I may have different stuff (still original). I will eventually replace it but does anyone know if asbestos was ever used in Trojan production?? Does anyone know how to tell if the product has asbestos in it? I would want to take precautions if it does.

Now that's different! Was this an option or a tinkering previous owner? How was the air tank filled? Vacuum off engine, fill tank manually?

Feeling really bad for you guys. We go to the Gulf every year and look forward to seeing some of the beautiful beaches. The thought that it may be spoiled sucks. We've already decided to do Daytona this time because of the spill. Have to wonder how many others are making different plans and how it w...
