let's go to school on your boat, I like that plan
Let's stay in touch, I need to do mine soon so I might get to it before you do and will share my findings. I have been soaking both sides for weeks with the port side already separated.

I would rather avoid that, thanks for the heads up.
Is there a specifc puller designed for this instead of putting all the stress on the flange?
I have a 3 jaw puller (used in the garage) but I don't know if that would work.

Dave, I'm almost in the same spot - replacing stuffing boxes
I disconnected the flange bolts already along with the split coupling bolts. My plan was to use a 1" socket and longer bolts as you described. I got this far about a week ago and stopped as I moved on to other things. I have to get this done in the next week though before it can go in. I though...

mid cabin - stairs
A couple of you guys were interested, I'm re-doing my stairs now and been taking some pics along the way. I'll provide more detail but my plan is to use the old steps as a template and re make them out of 3/4" teak. I have them out, just haven't made them yet. The risers are just 1/4" vene...

mid cabin - windshield washers
Here are the component locations in case any of you want to troubleshoot yours. The "pump" is actually just a soleniod. One side connected to the water supply and the other has clear tubing going up to the nozzles. Mine was located on the right side of the helm, up high. My VHF is just in ...

they built the cabin around the fridge?
that doesn't seem possible, not that I doubt your measurements. As mentioned, there's a lot of empty space.
You'll be able to come up with 2 inches (sawz-all) pretty quickly.

thanks guys, that does help....
it looks like I need to run a ground wire to each of the #7 terminals to get the indicator light working.
I'll try that tonight!

switch wiring - can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
I'm replacing my helm lighting switches (engine rm, deck lights) with Carling Contoura's that have a built in indicator light. The old switches are right next to each other and wired as follows: all white wires tied together 12v black feed goes to SW #1 and then jumped to other two ground to each sw...

I looked at both antennas last night, will have to check..
continuity to see which one is my VHF, neither has any markings left. Scott, if you have washer nozzles on the deck in front of the windshield then I would guess your pump is located there too. It's a tiny little motor with white/flex plumbing hose connecting on one side and clear hose on the other....

Dave, what year is your mid cabin?
I have an '88 and it only has one strut per side. Just doing the shaft logs now so I've been around this area in/out all week.

I'll take a closer look over the weekend.
Scott, I made two discoveries in the past week: 1) The AM/FM antenna is buried between the hull and locker as you walk down the stairs. If you remove the the storage compartment next to the port side helm seat you can see it. It runs parallel to the deck... kind of a weird location. 2) The windshiel...

2nd antenna mast - mid cabin?
I can't believe I've owned the boat six months (most of it on the hard) and just noticed something odd today. On each side of the radar arch, there's a mast antenna. I'm not sure what the second antenna is for. I have a VHF which is probably the long fiberglass mast on my starboard side. On the port...

bilge venting - 10m midcabin
I'm going to prime and possibly paint as much of the cabin plywood as I can reach and hopefully eliminate my interior odor problem like Scott did. I still want to install some type of bilge venting for the interior. I removed my macerator pump so I have switched 12v in the general area where I would...

good news, thanks for posting this info
I have been dreading this problem since I bought the boat. The Bin primer looks/ "smells" promising. I'm not getting the smell through the primer. I think I'll do this and see how it works. If it knocks it down 75%, I could live with it. I'll probably get some sort of solar vent to help wi...
