prowlerfish and captainmaniac seem to have nailed it. I took a dive this afternoon. I had about a foot of rope wrapped around the shaft. I was able to clear it easily. When I reversed the engine, the loose end of the rope is what produced the thump, thump sound. There is no obvious damage to the sha...

Damaged something underwater - where to start?

I have a Chrysler 318 with a 1:1 velvet Drive transmission in my '75 F26. I put in a new prop shaft 4 years ago, and had the prop reconditioned back to class A specs. I haven't hit anything since then... until today. I was cruising this afternoon at about 2900 RPM (~ 12 knots) and didn't see a lobst...

Here are a couple of posts about exhaust steam from the Marine Engines forum. http://www.marineengine.com/discus/messages/12490/32877.shtml http://www.marineengine.com/discus/messages/12490/221142.shtml A little steam is normal, especially on a cool day, but consider: What temp are you running? Is t...

That was about 2700 RPM, and 12 knots. I didn't have the GPS on, so I don't know the exact speed. My boat speed is pretty sensitive to the number of people and the amount of fuel on board. You can tell it was planed out because the wake is pretty flat so I was probably running about 12 knots. The bo...

I think that is a factory hard top on Fooferb's F26. Here is a link to a thread that shows the hardtop project I built last year on mine.

James, You need to say what engine and Fresh water (FWC) or raw water (RWC) cooled. I have a '75 F-26 with a Chrysler LM318 FWC. Here is a series of web pages with the FWC cooling system mapped out. http://www.coastalcafe.com/images/trojan_26/86_Chrysler_318fwc_pumbing.htm I also scanned a few pages...

Welcome Brian, I've been going through a 1975 F-26 since 2004. I did almost all of the work myself on a tight budges using a lot of parts from marine consignment. Here is an overview of my project list: 2004 removed rotted cockpit deck and frames, rebuilt framing and replaced deck with mahogany plan...
