I have only had one boat survey done and if the insurance or bank did not ask for it I would have never had it done .But I know what to look for . I used a top rated surveyer and he did not find anything I did not . and missed somethings I found . as far as a "moisture reading" thats a jok...

There was some talk about the tri-cabins being made in Canada . I found
some with "SHEPHERD BOATS LTD " as the builder. Trojan bought shepherd ( in Canada) others list trojan as the builder ( in the us ? )

Seeing some light is normal more so on a white hull . it you make a offer make sure its pennding a survey . you will need one anyway for insurance ( if full coverage ) and if you getting a loan on it . make sure the surveyer is S.A.M.S. or N.A.M.S. Tuck , Thats sweet ! Trojan called it the F36 Flybrige Tri-cabin ( I like Jimbo call it a tri-fly). The transom is glass . What year are you looking at ? if its 72(?) or newer the cabin and deck would be glass not wood

As I said its a good engine the 383 became the 400 cid . It is a big block chrysler its like the 440 cid but the 440 is a raised deck big block .

What year ? the 280hp was a 383cid up till 1971 and 400cid 72 on up . good engines IMO . the horsepower was of course 280

I sure you will be fine but I would not have them due to the gas smell I read of people companing about it and I have been on boats with them . but I hate the smell of gas anyway . there is no perfect tank and Plastic ones are cheap well cheaper anyway . now for the fun part putting them in .

both boats are nice both are a different types/style one is a aft cabin ( trojan) the other is a sportfish/conv. ( chis.) if the trojan is your type and it checks out ok go for it ! now if you find the chis is more to your liking or style Then you may want to look at the Trojan F32 or the F36 conv. ...
