Re: Cappy's f32 rehab
Your framing is definitely different than mine. Maybe it was redone a while back Or maybe in 74 that's what they did. Is it white oak framing? That's what mine is framed with. It's a common framing material in boat construction both wood and fiberglass. One thing I'm wondering is your framing looks ...

Re: Cappy's f32 rehab
Looking good Captrichc. I see you have a helper lucky you... Your framing is different than mine. Looks like you can deck right over the framing or is there hidden rot?

Re: Refitting a 1976 F-32 Journal
Plain old Rustoleum high gloss enamel (smoke gray). I painted all the vertical surfaces with out adding hardner. But when I do the bilge floor I will add hardner. I want to wash down the floor of the bilge and degrease it before I paint it. I can't do that till the boat is moved outside of the stora...

Re: Refitting a 1976 F-32 Journal
Finally all the work on the bulkhead is done. And if you don't now what it looked like from the factory you would be hard pressed to find the new work... Fresh coat of paint on all and now I can finish the deck and cover it all up...

Re: Refitting a 1976 F-32 Journal
Just finished the fiberglass tabbing on the new bulkhead. Used two layers of 24 oz woven roven for each tab. I cut the second layer so the fibers were running at a 45 degree angle to the first layer. The first layer the fibers run horizontal and vertical. Of coarse sanded the existing fiberglass and...

Re: Refitting a 1976 F-32 Journal
That's the plan Captrich. Im adding 5/8" ply above the framing that will create a deeper gutter along the transom. And if I hold the 1/2" ply decking away from the sides I can create gutters along the sides that empty into the transom gutter. If that makes sense.

Pictures of Refitting For Everyones Reference
I thought it would be great if everyone posted pictures of any type of refitting. From sealing hardware to repowering. If we put them all in one spot I think it would be really handy. Just a thought, and If questions/answers pop up all the better.

Re: Refitting a 1976 F-32 Journal
Haven't given it much thought to be honest. I do have a fabricator who would do it for me though. So yes that would be a good idea. As long as they are tig welded so the look nice. Then I think I'll round the sharp tip over slightly. I was thinking of hinging it by the transom so if I added gas stru...

Re: 1976 F-32 - Teak Cockpit Deck Hatch Trim Needed
I did find this tear drop t mold. As long as you support the hatch another way this will make for a nice finish trim. Just thought I would share what I found sine there wasn't any answers on here from anyone...

Re: Refitting a 1976 F-32 Journal
No sketches Captrichc, I work things out in my head mostly. Basically I'm extending the existing hatch opening towards the sliding doors. the tanks measure 48" long so I'm going to make the opening about 50". I haven't remembered to measure the height clearance yet because I keep forgettin...

Re: Refitting a 1976 F-32 Journal
I've been over every inch of these tanks and they look and feel solid so for now I'm sticking with them. I am making the hatch bigger so the tanks can come out when needed. But with that said I have a fabrication shop pricing new aluminum tanks. But from what I have read aluminum tanks can go bad pr...

Re: Refitting a 1976 F-32 Journal
Had a productive day today. As always I didn't get done what I hoped to but still made good head way. I have the new bulkhead done under the sliding doors. Everything lined up nice and straight too. I used hot dipped galvanized carriage bolts to make it better than the factory. All I need to do is g...

Re: Refitting a 1976 F-32 Journal
I plan on making the hatch opening closer to 48" long so I have better access to the bilge area and can pull the tanks in the future.
