Re: Cooling water.

FWC or RWC, some of the water is diverted right away/constantly to the exhaust elbows as the exiting exhaust must be kept cool at all times. Providing you have a good pump and the system is primed, the delay in water reaching the outlet depends on your exhaust system design. Longer runs and the type...

Re: Electrical Question

Follow the wiring. I suspect they go back to the helm. I'm with O&W, I think they are probably for indicator lamps at the helm. Have never seen this as original equipment and does not look like a factory wiring job.

Re: Rudder bearing removal

I might be missing something here but I don't believe that is a bearing. Pretty sure top is a stop collar fastened to the shaft. It fixes the height of the rudder and prevents it from dropping through the hull. If that's the case here, don't use a puller or you'll ruin the shaft. There are a few way...

Re: Installing Stern Thruster

I've installed the Sideshift in the past where there wasn't enough room inside or enough depth on the transom for a conventional thruster. They happen to have been on single screw trawlers much longer than 26ft and with large keels so if they could move that type of boat sideways, they'd have no pro...

Re: Installing Stern Thruster

I was all excited at the beginning of the video, then a guy showed up to do the install  And did you see the guy comfortably working inside the boat? If only it were that easy! Is there a reason why Vetus vs someone such as Side-Power? Do you guys have good support for Vetus down there? Are pa...

Re: 10 meter international swim platform

If you use just glass, it'll be really heavy by the time you get it thick enough to be structurally equal to having a core. The other thing you have to worry about is that if you don't know what you're doing, you can warp the platform with that much glass. As it cures, it will want to pull in certai...

..... X2 Power Group 27 battery ( https://www.batteriesplus.com/battery/marine-and-boat/deep-cycle/bci-group-27m/sli27agmdpm?gclid=CI_qlcXcmtICFQlYDQodZRYBqg ). The battery is an AGM type and will be able to handle the current load placed on it by the stern thruster. I wouldn't use that particular ...

Re: Fuel issue

++ to all the above. Also, did you replace the anti-siphon valve at the top of the tank where the fuel line hooks up? Check and make sure there are no kinks in the fuel line. Any restriction on the suction side will increase vacuum which is one of the causes of vapour lock. This happens when fuel ch...

Re: Removing fly bridge

No negative effect in fact it would lower the center off gravity and that would only help handling . What it would hurt would be resale IMO. Welcome aboard. I agree with Paul, I don't see any reason why it would have a negative effect on handling. You'd be limiting resale value and your market if y...

Do not mix them, do not paint them, mount on clean surface, and make sure the anode and metal being protected are in hard contact with each other, they must be electrically connected (continuit...

Re: Trip into salt water

I can't comment on costs of aluminum vs zinc as we don't use zinc here, just never bothered to check zinc prices. Zinc is being phased out for environmental and performance reasons. The new aluminum anodes are now the best anodes suited for all water conditions. They are more active than zinc (prote...

Re: Planning My Haul Out and Motor Pull (Update: Motors are out with Pics)

....Would you bother having the heads cleaned up and machined if necessary? A shop close to me will do one set of heads for $400.... It wouldn't hurt but what are you getting for the $400? The valve train is likely the end that will need attention in the near future. Having said that, if there's no...

Re: Planning My Haul Out and Motor Pull (Update: Motors are out with Pics)

I'm assuming since I don't see any heat exchangers that you boat in fresh water. If not, that would make the decision easier. I'd also consider how many hours you put on the boat every season. If you do 100-200 hours every year, then you might be going through this again five years from now. Can't d...
