The F-26 came with a 14X10 wheel. She'll cruise nicely at 17-18 mph at 3K rpm. WOT speeds of around 26-28 mph are common.

Congratulations on your new boat!

One observation: I'm sure his transom mounted scuppers are still in place, but the bottom edge of the cockpit liner along the transom in the photos is mounted hard against the cockpit sole. The transom liner's top edge is supposed to fit into a coorsponding slot behind the cockpit combing which resu...

I remember that Craigslist post because I poked fun at the claimed speed. There's two possibilties with respect to that boat; 1. He had a converted and rarely produced F-26 which Trojan offered with twin 4-cyl I/O's (so, reinforced transom)... or 2. He properly converted an inboard boat and it actua...

It's not as simple as bolting on an outboard bracket or sea drive system. The boat in the video link already had an appropriately built-up transom. If converting an inboard, you'd have to gut all the currently glassed-in transom framing and glass-in a new plywood transom core (guessing 2 1/2" m...

To be honest I have seen other boats do this , But this is the only time I have heard of a Trojan F25 owner complain of it , so I would not worry to much and if it did happen just pull back a little , coming back to idle seems like a over reaction . Over-reaction? Prowler, you poo-poo my post, but ...

I carry most of the things on the 'master list', but also carry a 5/8" towline to get her back to port in case I can't get going again. Towed a few back myself.

Bryan, First, a few technicalities to correct from those earlier posts. 1. The 25' Sea Raider was the Model 210, not 250, and was still shown on pricelists thru Aug '74. 2. I can't find definitive proof that the early F-26 ('71-'72) was called the Model 260. Considering that other Trojan models intr...

Welcome to the forum! There were a few models of Tri-Cabins produced. The original Model 440 was introduced in 1970 and lasted two years. It has a fiberglass hull, and wood deck and cabin structure. Trojan introduced an improved version in '72 that has FG main decks and cabin structure. The sun deck...

Here's a pricelist for 1975. Also included are 1976 pricelists (with optional equipment pricing) for the F-36 Models 360/440, as well as the F-32 Model 320 Express. 1975 Pricelist http://inlinethumb08.webshots.com/44679/2116344100106958956S600x600Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb25.webshots.com/45144/2234...

Torcan

It may be a longshot, but you might get lucky if you track down the previous owner... he may still have the missing hatch assembly lying around in his garage, if only pattern worthy. From your pics, it looks like the tracks were also removed.

Good Luck.

Are they 327's or 283's? A '59 Constellation would have come with a flywheel forward 283 marinized by Chris Craft. Would likely be coupled to a 1:1 manual reverse gear unless it comes out of a bigger boat. The 283 (unless you have the later 283F) is unique because the engine is turned around with th...

What is the purpose of a hollow keel?? Bouyancy ?? Ron 8) Don't think of it as serving any particular purpose, but merely as a consequence of stiffening the junction between the bottom and the keel. Interestingly, my '72 F-36 does not have a closed-off 'hollow keel'. The keel was left open. Trojan ...

Many Trojans have a so-called hollow keel which holds water. One way to illiminate the smell is to vacuum it out of that hollow area. This can be accomplished by drilling a 1.25" hole into the cavity up near the v-berth where the bilge is at it's lowest point. This will allow you to vacuum out ...
