Re: Paint/Clear coat
So what is the best way to sand the clear coat off. What grit? Would some sort of solvent just remove the clear? What is the best way to apply this paint? Foam roller and brush or can it be sprayed?

Paint/Clear coat
I have had my 10.8 International Sedan for about 8 years now and the stripes on the bridge need some attention. Looks like the previous owner had the two stripes painted on and then clear coated. About a year or so ago the clear coat started to bubble and flake off. The painted stripes below look to...

Re: MCCK Genset
I replace the governor spring on my MCCK today and I had to loosen the threaded tension bolt to get the new spring in place. Does anyone know how to determine the correct amount of tension that should be on this spring. I'm afraid of putting too much or too little tension on the spring. I still have...

Re: MCCK Genset
I have a model 6.5 mcckj. Will the flywheel just turn by hand? I have never done the points so its all new to me. From what I read I think I need to rotate so that the points are opened all the way. Once I get the new points in and adjust the gap do I need to worry about setting any timing? Also, lo...

Re: 10 Meter Sedan Luxury! Vinyl Floor Project and general make over
Love your idea to replace the ice maker with a beverage cooler. I have a 10.8 meter that has the same old ice maker that doesn't work. I would love to switch the ice maker for a beverage refrigerator. Is the refrigerator ac/dc? What brand is it? You have done an excellent job with your boat. Looks f...

stuffing Box Maintenance
stuffing box.JPG stuffing box 2.JPG I have started to service my stuffing boxes on my 10.8 meter and have a couple of questions. On the one photo you will see a disconnected bonding wire. I originally thought it should be attached to the stuffing box nuts but the o ring connector on the wire is too...

Re: Stuffing Box Packing
Quick question: It appears that my stuffing box hose has what is referred to as iron clamps. Each hose has one big iron clamp on each end. Is this how Trojan did it or has it been changed over the years. I'm assuming they are not double clamped because of the size of these iron clamps. Any feedback ...

Re: Stuffing Box Packing
I have shafts that are 1 3/8, so I know I need 5/16 packing. How much material or length will I need to repack both boxes?

Stuffing Box Packing
Need to repack and was considering Gore GFO, but have read about some concerns about galvanic corrosion. Is this really something to worry about? What are most people using today?

Re: Stuffing Box
So if I'm lucky enough to get the coupling off does the shaft slide backwards at this point or will I have enough room to get the new hose on? The boat would be in the boat yard so I wouldn't have access to oven.... any other ides? Could you he the coupling with a torch? Can the old coupling be reus...

Stuffing Box
I was considering repacking my stuffing box this winter once I am pulled form the water. I have owned the boat for eight years and not sure when they were done last. The starboard engine has a pretty steady drip at this point. I thought as long as I'm doing this I should consider changing the stuffi...

High Water Alarm
I recently had to replace two bilge pumps on my 10.8 International. I don't believe my high water alarm switches have worked since I have owned the boat so I thought this would be a good time to fix them. I have everything all wired up correctly but still can't get the high water alarm to sound. I d...
