Been there, done that... Upon taking delivery of my F32 I began the trip home (through the Trent-Severn canal and lock system between Lake Simcoe and Lake Ontario). At each lock, one engine got harder and harder to start... Short form of the story, on about the 3rd day of travel and 25 or so locks, ...

My cockpit carpet is the original rubber backed stuff, and as others have posted, it really soaks up the water!! I intended to replace it over the winter but never got around to having a new one made. The carpet is held down with snaps - on each in the forward corners, 2 each in the aft corners (one...

Sorry to be a prick, but I gotta say it... blows my minds that nobody has commented yet... I see open beer at the helm. NO open alcohol while underway, and most importantly NONE for the Captain !!! Call me a prude, but I prefer to see people live, and not to be rammed by a drunk twit ! Water on the ...

One other consideration for running off separate tanks vs sharing them, is fuel contamination... If you run off separate tanks and one of them has water in the gas (maybe it's on the side of the boat that gets direct sun during the day so you get more condensation, or the weiner at the gas dock does...

I take it the F28 table uses different hardware than a F32 (or for that matter, a 1969 28 Sea Skiff, as my father's worked the same way...).... For mine (and my father's), folding the single (hinged) support out of the way and dropping the 'inboard' side of the table 20-30 degrees releases it from t...

Trojan's published specs for a 1979 F25 with 225 Chrysler or 228 Mercruiser reads : - low cruise at 2500 RPM, 16.5 mph - max cruise at 3000 RPM, 23.3 mph - top end at 4000 RPM, 32.0 mph ... but I think their numbers are a bit optimistic.... My F32 is spec'd out at 34.5 mph, but on the two occasions ...

Vacuum effect is pretty common. As one of the other posts indicated, crack a hatch or two forward to allow positive pressure and ventilation of the cabin and cockpit areas. Might not work in ALL situations, but definitely works for the majority of them. Remember that fumes are heavier than air, so w...

The Phifertex is vinyl coated (plastick-y) and hence doesn't fold or store well (you pretty much have to try to roll it up). After a few years with exposure to sunlight and chemicals (like some deck cleaning solutions) it can get a bit brittle, and mine actually cracked when folded too sharply. What...

If the marina is supplying the agitators as part of the overall cost of your winterizing, of course they will only want to give you one as it reduces their profits if they give you 2... Having said that, I have a friend who lives aboard, and is wintering at the western tip of Lake Ontario. He uses 2...

The other thing to watch out for is weight... if things keep accumulating and you don't get rid of it somehow, can your trailer / blocking system handle the extra weight and what might that do to the boat bottom ? The hull, rib, and stringer structures are desiged to float in the water, not hold a f...
