Re: F28 Exhaust Noise/fume
This is quite interesting----- wonder what the difference is between what you have done and the same engine thru an outdrive---- exhaust velocity at the outlet or manifold design maybe-----they must be doing something to overcome this backpressure issue running the exhaust out the prop at idle and t...

Re: F28 Exhaust Noise/fume
clever. would love to see close up shots of your invention. this is similar to the davis transom mount underwater exhaust system. carver used it on their 28 mariners i believe. here is a link to the original patent for the 'davis system'. click on the drawing to see it better...... http://www.googl...

Re: F36 Overheating both engines
pulled thermostats out last night and went out.... still got hot. Weather was bad, cold.... did not want to dive in and check the through-hull grates at the intakes. Anyone have a photo of what one of these grates looks like? (1974 F36 boat with Chrysler M400's) I do not have strainers - just a gra...

Re: 78 f32 steering/rudders
A little update--I know Scorpion has the same problem---- I have made some calls around to see what can be done about that worn out mount on the BA125-7-BJ steering cylinder, the bj stands for ball joint, so I will have to wait for haul out and pull the joint out to see if I can make something for it...

Re: F36 Overheating both engines
Hi there---- are these raw water cooled engines or fresh ?---- get yourself a hand held temp gun so you can shoot different areas to double check temps , therm housing, block, heads , oil pan etc ,I would do this before going any further----- seems odd that both engines are the same---- when you say...

Re: 78 f32 steering/rudders
Carvers, both the boats... and their owners, are insensitive creatures.    Good luck with the boat. You are right , old and more sensitive now with the Trojan and that could explain how come I am noticing this now?? Lol A couple of pics of the offending mount---I know...

F32 steering ram/// has anyone had this problem
Got some pics of steering ram pivoting mount---- anyone know of any repairs or replacements for this as it has about an inch of lateral play----The ram is a syten BA125-7-BJ and the balance of the system is sea star----I had a previous post about the boat wandering and now I believe this slop is con...

Re: Port Engine Power Loss
Just remembered a problem I had with a previous boat that sounds just like yours,I had forgotten--- had qjet carbs and one engine would cut out under load---- well I took top off carb and the arms that pivot the metering rods from the I believe it was called the power valve were rusty ,resulting in ...

Re: Port Engine Power Loss
Sorry to hear, these things are very frustrating--- maybe something simple----- if you hooked up your portable tank to the suction side of the new electric pump and had no problems then you can safely assume that the suction side of the port side fuel system is at fault in my opinion------- in that ...

Re: Keel water
Is that as far aft as the keel runs? Does it stop at the engine room? Thanks! I understand that the false bilge goes as far back as the actual keel( according to Beacon Bob)-----in my case I could not get the drill in any further aft because of battery box and genny as I originally wanted to instal...

Re: Keel water
Our boat did not have a drain for the keel--- all I did was add a brass drain in the false bottom-- 1" hole as I remember (only drill thru the false bilge, you can tell by tapping around,it sounds hollow in the center) then attach brass collar and you have a removable plug, just suck the water th...

Re: 78 f32 steering/rudders---update
Update----------I checked all the measurements and the toe setting appears to be ok-----while jammed in the lazerette I noticed the steering ram has a good 1" of lateral play. There is a white mount of sorts holding the ram in place that seems worn out---- maybe has a ball and socket??--- will t...

Re: 78 f32 steering/rudders
Thanks for the responses guys,I will recheck the rudders using the measurements from the diagram---- engines fine--- the tachs are a little iffy though, checked all the connections and they are better--- I really don't use the wheel in the marina also ,it just seems overly sensitive to any input and ...

78 f32 steering/rudders
A little background,--- after using this boat for while I find at idle speeds in marina etc, that the boat wanders like my old ford pickup--- it is very sensitive to throttle steer as well ( previous boat was very stable at slow speeds)----- I have read some previous info about small rudders and I h...

Re: Hot Coil
Yes, same meter. Mybe I should go back to the old coil (internal resistor) and bypass the ballast again and see how it is. It's just weird that the starboard motor is ok with the MSD coil and the port isn't ?? Starting to sound like maybe grounds----- clean your block grounds and run a ground from ...
