My first attempt posting pictures

Hello, I am making my first attempt to post some pics of my 10 meter. These pictures were taken the end of last season. I am in the process of repowering and just gutted 50% of the interior today so I'll be posting some progress pictures soon. http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg144/Yorklyn/Double-...

RWS, Sounds like you went through the same decision process that I'm going through now. I haven't priced out all the anciallary components but I was thinking they would close to gap in cost between refurbishing the old engine and adding a new powerplant. I am however jelaous of the repower decision ...

Dreamer, Nice F28! What year is It? My first boat was a 1977 F28, still miss it. I still have most of what I think is the origional owners manual, Has some basic wiring diagrams etc. Let me know if your ever looking for anything in particular, If I have it I'd be more than willing to send you a copy.

Mac32, It sure looks like you have been busy from your pics!! Wow! How did you go about educating yourself before attempting your project? I have a few fiberglass boat repair books but have only glanced through them at this point. The only reason I think I'm intimidated is lack of good reference mat...

RWS, Is your 10 meter a mid cabin or an express? If its a midcabin, did you run into any issues fitting bigger props with clearance issues? I Am keeping an open mind about using diesels but to make it work I would have to find a heck of a deal on a pair that would fit. I was talking to a guy the oth...

Jav, The wife and I did make our decision to keep this boat long term rather than sell and buy another down the road. My main goal is to make our boat as maintence free as I can (Quit laughing I know its a boat) I'm just trying to bring as many things up to date to reduce my time working on it durin...

Thanks Everyone! I really appreciate the responses! I think Tadtoomuch has a great point on the diesel repower, other than the fact that the diesels would increase the speed, I realize theres no way I'll get a reasonable payback. I was origionally looking at this repower as a monumental one time eve...

Thanks Danny and Jav, What you both said is exactly what I'm trying to decide. My wife and I purchased the boat just after my son was born so we could bring him down the Chesapeake in the summer and give him some unforgetable memories. We have consistently used the boat until this past memorial day....

Need some advice on repower options!

Hello, I have just began a total refit of my 1987 10 meter express. I pulled both of the 454 crusaders and am in a dilemia on what to put back in. The old engines run fine and were compression tested two years ago by my mechanic who told me they didn't need to be rebuilt yet .I just replaced the man...

I had a similar problem with my F28. I was told If you ever used toilet cleaner not specificly designed for holding tanks it could remove the odor resistant coating on the inside of the hose. We had replaced the hoses 1 yr prior to this problem but had used a household cleaner and had the smell comi...

Thanks for the info RWS & Steve, I had forgotten about the genset, That will have to be figured in (Naturally I just put a gas kohler 5kw with sound enclosure last season, oh well ). I was kind of leaning towards cummings, Yanmars are really nice but out of my price range. My Crusaders run great...

10 Meter Questions

Hello, I have a 1987 10 meter mid cabin that I'm just starting to redo and I had a few questions that I was trying to get some help with. I just had the boat trucked to my warehouse. I am going to go over the entire boat and essentially redo everything. I was wondering If anyone has done a diesel sw...
