I've had that problem before but the only way i've found to stop it is to stay away from the grass and junk. As long as the motor is sucking water what ever strainer is in place will plug up.

Ditto on the 4200. Our older F-32's have a wood frame attached to the deck that the hatch seals to.

These trannys are pretty bullet proof. It has been my experience that sitting doesn't harm them. It would be interesting if you got hold of Bob at Beacon Marine and aquired the build sheet on that boat to see if it did come from the factory with all those extras. The diesels are nice.

I will be watching it real close because I agree with you all and don't see how flow direction could cause the problem but it worked, and as you say there could be a restriction and reversing the hoses may have released it,????? who knows. but we'll see.
