I've been buying and bugging John for years. If I didn't feel that way, I wouldn't be plastering his name and number everywhere. :D :D :D

I disagree about the holding tank though. Been there done that ,with the built-in unit...

He knows Trojans!!!!!

My wife threatened to leave me if I didn't get rid of the Sealand head. It is just a built in Porta-pottie. I threw it out and installed a Raritan Sierra. You can get those with a small holding tank that fits at the base.

I agree with the coments on John . But one thing I may add is we need to support Bob at trojanboats.net & Beacon marine supply . with out Bob we would not have this site ! no other trojan site is active like this one .

I think it is a GFIC as its a 3 pole breaker But I am not sure. I will find out as I ordered one as a spare . I had to reg a 2 pole on my F30 as I could not find a 3 pole.

Which head to use?

Post by rossjo »

What heads are most people using?

a) Porta-Potti (we still use this on both of our boats)

b) the Sealand 9.5gal Holding Tank? http://www.foreandaftmarine.com/51-312371103.htm

c) one of the Raritans - Macerator or holding tank style?
http://www.seacoastservices.com/raritan_toilets.htm

We'd like to upgrade, but want to learn pros/cons from everyone's experience. Since we dock at our house, it is hard to pump out regularly, so the fully electric/macerator sounds best, but is costly and takes a lot of power it seems ...

I use a Raritan Macerator type ( Sea Era full size ) ( Household-style) with a holding tank . I use the fresh water model as it cuts down on the smell . put it in 3 years ago no problems .

I still have the mansfield vacu-flush unit with holding tank on my F32 and that sucker (no pun intended) still works great. No moving parts, just have to pre plan to start the vacuum up before the doing the deed. otherwise you have to wait.....

If you are still looking for the breaker, and if it is the main 30A breaker for your shore power panel.... I got one a while ago from cmsquick.com. EXPENSIVE SUCKER, but exactly the right thing.

I believe you would be looking for their 30 Amp Mains - Texas Instruments PN= 13MCA-186-114
