Who built Trojans and your working Hull number.
The primary work force of Trojan was Mennonites not Amish. We do have photos of Amish working on Trojans in the Lancaster plant.
Trojans were built in the US were built in Lancaster PA and the larger Trojans in Elkton MD
The main headquarters of Trojan was Lancaster PA thus the aluminum tag on all Trojans says Lancaster PA.
On the aluminum tag "the size of a credit card" is stamped the engine number (S) and the real hull number. ( known as the Working Hull Number) Three numbers followed by four. Ex 301-4034
The first three numbers are the model (301) of your Trojan the first number of the set of four is the year. (4) = 1974 The last three numbers are the number of that model made that year or the number of that model made to date. This is were it gets tricky.
The TRJ number on starboard stern is the USCG number required on all boats after 1970 and has imbedded in it the working hull number.
If you aluminum tag says Trojan Bertram it does not mean you have a Trojan built by Bertram. Trojan Bertram was the name of the group that owned both boat company's
There was no collaboration between the two company's.

Re: Who built Trojans and your working Hull number.
Bob , I remember John Leed telling me Bertram had some quality issues and some of the Trojan guys were sent over to help or consult .
I always hate seeing a Trojan for sale and the listing saying built by Bertram .

Re: Who built Trojans and your working Hull number.
Something else that ruffles my feathers is when somebody on a forum states that Bertram are some of the best boats built and the Trojans were not anywhere near their quality. Certainly different hull designs, but a Bertram would be low on my list for what we use our boat for.
Of course, I don't mind that I didn't have to pay inflated Bertram prices for our boat!

I had a disagreement with an F36 sedan owner who insisted that his hull was a Delta Conic, Harry Schoell design. (Hopefully he was NOT correct unless there is something I'm not aware of... ) as the International/Meter boats were.

The F36 is not Delta Conic nor Bertram and the F30 did not use a crap craft made hull as some one tried to tell me

Hey Bob,
Your post could easily be developed into a nice full fledged article as a permanent reference on the Trojan International website.
If you want to take that plunge, I'll give you full authorship credit and include a direct link back to Beacon Marine and the Bob Cushman page as well.
Let me know if this is of any interest to you.

Re: Who built Trojans and your working Hull number.
Bob,
Your post is great, but I would need more to give it it's own website tab.
Maybe include some of the factory files/information you have on hand and some information on BEACON MARINE.
I'll also add a link to BEACON from that new webpage as well.
Let me know,
