Mysterious Dash Switches

On the 1980 F28 there are two sets of switched under the cabin throttles the first on is for the old search light (been removed but wires still there) the second one is two toggle switched side by side, when it took the wood plate off to reveal the back side there were 9000 small wires on these two small switches. What do you suppose these are for? With everything quiet and I turn them on or off, up or down, nothing seems to happen. Any suggestions other than pictures, which I will get ASAP.

Thanks

If you don't already have the manuals for your boat, I recommend getting them from our sponsor, Beacon Marine. You can order them at https://www.trojanboats.net/zencart/ind ... 57d8574f87

The wiring diagrams for YOUR boat will be included.

With boats the age of ours, it is quite common to find many changes since they left the factory, but I have found it extremely helpful to have the manuals.

having two f28s the small wires were Pea lamps for lighting various warning devices. I was before LEDs and they used Pea lamps. I ripped them all out and set up a different instrument lighting system. The Pea lamps usually indicated bilge pumps, running lights on etc.

THE top set is the old search light, but the bottom two are my concern. Thanks

Those are your flybridge or lower station selector switches for the searchlight. Be SURE the searchlight is off before leaving the boat during the day!
